The Sunn? Bass reflex. But they didn't suffer from the boundary issues that 360s and V4Bs did, because with the front of the cones exposed they had adequate midrange.

Hmm I've been looking at this thread for a while and have been getting very tempted.

Looking to put together a smallish PA (mainly for parties and also a bit of work with bands). Its not actually for me its for my brother he is into sound and lighting and hires out gear to people for parites (he's only 14 but hes ambitious) and is dead set on a PA that he can also hire. He doesn't have much cash and was looking at low end behringer type gear until I suggested that him, me and my dad might be better to give a couple of these cabs a go.

I was thinking a couple of Omni top15's to start with as he could run them full range and then later add maybe a Titan 39 or Tuba30 (or 2).

Ask on my forum, you be advised to use Jack 10s or Jack 12s. OTop 15s are more of an option for guys wanting to make use of on-hand fifteens, Jack 12 beats it all around in a smaller package.

Sorry for the overly-broad question, but how would my sound change/be improved by taking the drivers out of my Avatar B212N and putting them in a Jack12? My amp is an 800RB if that makes any difference.

Edit: Seems like the Jack 210 would be a better cabinet to have, or two of them. If it comes to it, I'll probably just sell my B212N to fund the 2 J210s.

Here's my update - added an Omni10.5 to my Omni10. I have a stack for big gigs, the O10 for regular, and now the 10.5 for coffeehouse and quiet rehearsals.

I also built two Omni TB15 cabinets:

The cabinets have always performed well, and are ideal for unpredictable weather situations.

I have seen Omni 15's stacked up to make "the fridge". Is this the only way to array tall boys? would/could you set them side by side as a mirror like what you have here? The look of the cabs is also part of my evil plan.

You can place them side by side but with the positions reversed from that pic, placing the tweeters and midhorns both on the inboard position, and then angling both cabs inward about 30 degrees, forming a cross-firing 'V'.

Crossfiring provides greater horizontal dispersion, greater than a single cab. You, your bandmates, and the audience will be able to hear you better.

I just did some research and vertical is better in mirror. the high and midrange elements need to be on the same side of the cab which leaves the sub on the other side. This actually holds true with all vertical stacked cabs, not just BFD designs. Crude mock up:

It was this thread that gave me the idea to build one. Just finished my O15TB; really pleased with it. Clear, precise sound with well-defined bass, mid and treble. Great match with the tube amp.

Fits in the back of a hatchback, with a reasonably big amp and full hardcase.

Not the best picture, but well... Hopefully get a live picture at some point.

Looks AWESOME!!! Would love to get my hands on one of those Koch tube heads. How do you like it with the BFM cab?
