Show your Dark Starred Basses

Wyliee - Warmoth now will include the DS cutout in a P-bass pickguard? If so, this is indeed great news for those who aren't able to do this customization themselves

all the best,

R

Unfortunately, no. We've never really standardized on one location for the pickup. We'd need to do that first.

If the DS pickup rout ever becomes an option on pickguards, I'll be sure to let you know.

Can anyone here provide me with the specs on that part of a Darkstar that is actually below (through) the surface of the body?
I have a Fender Coronado II that I think would be a good candidate for Darkstars, but I haven't found anything to suggest that they would fit the existing openings for the original pickups.
Those original pickup, I believe, lay on the surface of the body, with no part actually invading the body's cavity.
The Darkstar does have a routing requirement (on a solid body), and I wonder if anyone here could provide that exact specification. Am I making this clear?

You can see the bass at: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?p=7125992#post7125992

The pickup openings measure 2 7/8" wide x 1' high. I believe that only a portion of the Darkstar actually descends below the surface of the body.

Thangfish, thanks. I'm sure I'm confusing things with a few different postings of different ideas, one being a solid body for my Modulus BaSSStar neck.

However, in this case, I have a project Fender Coronado II hollowbody bass. While I have the depth, I'm wondering about the width and height (as opposed to depth) of that portion of the Darkstar that actually projects below the surface of the bass' body.
I'm hoping to find that the pickup openings at 2 7/8" X 1" are sifficient to mount Darkstars without the need to cut into the body. I'd like to preserve the original specs of the bass as best I can.

The location that you guys routed on my G4 works incredibly wel for Darkstars. Considering the locations for the routes were what Fred Hammon recommended AND what he uses on his personal basses... Feel free to use the dimensions from my routes as the new standard :p

I'm just saying that because my next build is going to be a dual Darkstar jazz and having a pickguard come from you guys as well as the body would be spectacular!
