I just bought this from Scoop and love it! The Warmoth neck is a baseball bat, but I find it really comfy to play. Couldn't decide whether to go for rounds or flats, so probably gonna try both... Pyramid Gold flats will be going on tonight!
This bass was just built by Pierre Antoine of France for a customer of his by special order:

My latest (and greatest). Dark Stars in natural brass finish. Brass bridge, tailpiece and bridge block by Marko Ursin (set up and bridge work by Jim Eanelli). Original finish was trashed beyond acceptability (Sorry, a reliced M-85 was not in my cards), so I refinned with nitro (one of the bottom coats was amber-tinted to avoid the "new bass" look). Sounds a lot like Phil Lesh's Alembicized EBO (Skull and Roses album) strung with flats. I'm thinking rounds or semi rounds for the long run.

I have a question for you Darkstar fan's.
How does the darkstar Bridge pickup sound really near the bridge.
(I just want to know for the bridge pickup)
Edit: Does it sound good passive. (Again I just wanna know the bridge pickup alone)

And, as owner of one of his basses, I might add that I'm a by-default-fan of anything bass related that Marko's been involved in.
Thanks. I built a Gibson EBO with Dark Stars a few years back, but had to let it go because of a very worthy Alembic opportunity I missed it, but this one's every bit as cool and the bridge and heavier body sound better (Can you ever really have enough aged mahogany in a Dark Starred bass?).

This is the one I have (please excuse the picture quality):
It's one of Marko's first basses I believe, and it's not quite as red in real life as it is in the picture. It's a great guitar.
Just look at that sucker! For those of you unfamiliar with Marko's work and the projects he's entertained many of us with for the past few years: Marko is not a trained luthier. He is an incredibly talented jack of all trades craftsman. He is able to do what I would kill to have the talent and patience to do: He can look at an item, assimilate what's important about what it is, then build one like it (incorporating improvements, of course). When he wanted to put Dark Stars in a Guild Starfire, but couldn't find a Starfire, he built one. No corners cut, engineering improvements included. Sorry, Marko, if this feels like I'm outing you, but - everyone: This is one seriously talented dude.

And, by the way, Marko may not be a trained luthier, but he does teach wood shop (I think that's the correct term...), so he is experienced with carpentry.
Marko Ursin is also known as TB member MPU, and he does indeed build nice basses.

Thanks for your comments. I don't think I'm THAT much talented. It's nice to hear you guys like what I've made for you.
The main reason I make my own parts is that I'm not willing to pay big $$ from parts that are not so hard to make. And of course many of the parts I've made are not available.

That's how we Finns are. If somebody here says "I really am good" it's like he says "I'm one self-satisfied, high and mighty sob". We are tought to be humble and not too proud of our doings and makings. BUT it really feels good when somebody praises me like you and Bill do!
