. That's a real´shame, as it's fast becoming my favourite "custom colour" of all time my new Fender Custom Shop (NOS) 1959 Precision Bass:
that is an effin' HOT bass! Congrats!
2003 Fender Precision in Inca Silver. I dunno if I'd call it rare, but a woefully underrated color that is now discontinued.

I was looking for an Inca Silver Precision in 2007. Apparently, they
had discontinued that color and replaced it with Shoreline Gold --
a color that had been out of circulation for some time.
So, I went for the Shoreline Gold. That color didn't last for long
as they discontinued that when they came out with the American
Standard P basses.
The model is far from discontinued (and probably never will be in our lifetimes), but the colour (Shoreline Gold) stopped being used on P Basses some time during the 1970's (IIRC)....
....Of course, there are still some Fenders (Roscoe Beck bass, US Vintage reissue Strats etc.) and other brands (Sadowsky, Läkland etc.) available in Shoreline Gold, but as far as P Basses go, it's not an option any more. i have a 2007 american series jazz bass in shoreline gold. they offered it for a short time. The model is far from discontinued (and probably never will be in our lifetimes), but the colour (Shoreline Gold) stopped being used on P Basses some time during the 1970's (IIRC). The matching headstock and flamed maple neck are extremely rare options too.
Boys and girls, I proudly present to you ... my new Fender Custom Shop (NOS) 1959 Precision Bass:

Its an '82 Fender P-Bass Special. The body and neck are made from Black American Walnut. These where built for a year and estimated about 150 - 300 made.
That's a cool bass! What does the mini-switch do?
