SHOW YOUR DISTRESSED FINISHES!

Makes me think of Bobby Vega's "Shark Bass" ('62 stacked-knob J) Voyage to the Bottom! :bassist:

Yea...voyage to the bottom of the sea, then stuffed in someones trunk for the whole summer. A little blow torching to dry it out...lol

As Bobby is a Bay Area guy - I saw/heard him playing it a couple of times and that guy is the most badass bass player hands down. That '62 J has become the bass he is always photographed with - his 'signature' bass. If you ever have the opportunity to catch him playing - don't hesitate.

Will do!...the music scene in Toronto has been top notch since the 50’s
I feel privileged to live 55min to downtown.

Ijust did this one for a local guy. It was already sunburst, so it was pretty fun!View attachment 3505210

That came out pretty good - did you do the hot-cold thing to achieve chequing or did you use an exact-knife to create it? And what type of paint is the white & blue?

The white primer and Daphne blue were both Re-Ranch Nitro in rattle-cans.

I tried the hairdryer/freeze propellant thing, and it DID crack the finish, but it was the poly underneath that was cracking, in big long cracks that didn't look all that great, so I xacto'd the rest of 'em. I'll have to try an ALL nitrocellulose finish to see if I can achieve those little eggshell-cracks like I see on the MJT relics.
