The untold story of Fender’s relic guitars
Oh my-lanta! That needs a wiggly pants trigger alert.again - no affiliation - 1958 Fender Precision Bass Pre-CBS Vintage Gold Guard & Gold Finish w/ Case a really pretty re-fin based on an actual 1958 Fender color. More pics within
From the sales text:
Featuring a heavily figured flame maple neck and professional nitro lacquer body finish courtesy of Riggio Custom Guitars, this Precision Bass was finished to match a genuine Fender pre-custom color shade of gold with a distinct tint and saturation. Here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, we had access to a factory finished 1958 Fender Jazzmaster with a finish simply known as "Gold" (although dealers would eventually give this color the moniker "Harvest Gold"). Using a DuPont color chip book, this original shade of gold, forearm bronzing, clear coat aging, and base coat pigmentation were all dutifully documented, resulting in a near perfect replica of the various shades and wear. This gold is utterly unique among Fender's custom colors, and a fitting tribute to a finish available during the 1958 production year.

So many intergoogle finds...and yes, that first one is Antigua or rather started that way. View attachment 3553313
The guy is in one of the FB Precision Bass groups. I'll grab another next time he posts. And yes, I get you are right. They look like the old roller bridges where you could "dial" in string spacing.
You asked so I went down the rabbit hole like some creepy FB stalker...here's his bass. It's just that the Antiqua guitars/basses had Antiqua painted pick-guards which add a whole extra layer of player distressing potential!![]()

Funny how we love basses that have been REALLY played. Mojo dirt, grunge, weird dna, finish rubbed off by chicken grease fingers, alcohol and smoke breath ...we love ‘em.You asked so I went down the rabbit hole like some creepy FB stalker...here's his bass.View attachment 3553344 View attachment 3553345
