Well, it’s not beat up ... I just thought @JIO would like it. Just saw it on reverb :)

Dave thinks it needs mojo! much too clean!
Very clean - however, if installing a new bridge I would have found one with adjustable saddles. The E & G are hangin' on the fretboard for dear life! :)

    Thanks, JIO!

It was sunburst originally but given the typical 'hippy refin'. Thankfully it was stripped without sanding so the body is not misshapen and still has the original finish in the cavities - which we left. The headstock had been refinished but the back of the neck still has the original finish. He did a great job of blending it in. Very hard to tell. It came with a really nice original celluloid topped tort guard (covers and case, too) but I happened to have a spare original white '65 guard (with a couple broken tips which Bravewood repaired. I could put the tort on but I prefer the white and that's what would be 'correct' for that year.

White pg (for me) works best  So they shot a black (or tobacco?) finish on the body first? and white (primer) on the hs face?

Full process. Yellow dye, sealer, burst, clear. As the FR was going on, no need to bleach the screw holes. If trying to be REALLY accurate, it would have used the 'target burst' yellow mixed with white - though the wood was blemish free.

No base coat on the headstock face. The only time I've ever seen Fender do that in the 60's was the metallic coat for Candy Apple Red. Otherwise just the color straight on (over clear I think - and then usually/almost always clear after). I think any savings on paint doing the headstocks with primer would be nominal (and the paint won't sink in that much on maple) and dealing with the primer potentially coming through the sharp edges would have been too much trouble.

Thanks. Given how expensive they've gotten, I don't anticipate buying another vintage Fender (famous last words) so wanted to do it right!

PS the white that can be seen on the headstock if looking in closeup is residual polishing compound. Easy to take for undercoat!
