He was. He left a year or two ago and I think went back to the Netherlands. He had like an 8 year waiting list on his builds when he left, I’ve heard.

Interesting in a few ways - '64 J with mods owned by a famous bass player. Biggest mod is adding a P-pu. Second big mod is redefining the clover tuning paddles. (...) and third questionable mod was shaving the G-side of the headstock, 'to make it lighter'... yah, like a teaspoon of water lighter. (not counting the teaspoon) The knee contour also appears to have been' shaven'. Minor mods look to be a shaved lower bout (on both front & back because..?) and bridge-cover mollies imbedded into the body. (again, why as most players removed the cover)

An unaffected '64 J would merit $20k and more in today's market, but unless you were a big fan of the original owner (Hall & Oats bass-player) ...

Up for sale, a 1969 Fender Jazz Bass in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This soulful Jazz Bass, clearly well-loved over the years, has Fender’s infamous “faux burst,” with an Olympic White base and sealer coat obscuring the actual wood grain, and simulated grain added below the Sunburst gloss. The aging of this faux burst is common for this particular finish application, presenting with an authenticity that’ll make any heavy relic green with envy.

My '69 PBass, stripped the sunburst some 40 yrs ago, applied Glitsa floor finish, 'cropped' the scratch plate and installed Nordstrand NP4 pickup because the original was 'fading'. Maybe I remount the ashtray one day...

.. forgot to mention that I put two strapbuttons at the bridge side so you can put it against the wall or amp without falling aside. Thats a pro for the Pbass! Strange that Leo F never came with that solution.

My new 1981 G&L L1K. I’m pretty sure it’s a refin, but done long ago. It’s beautiful worn in and fits me like a glove. The divot in the wood by the pickup is pure mojo to me.

Sure is! I’m coming to find I tend to like mahogany bodies for whatever reason. All of my favorite basses are mahogany. This is my 3rd. None of them I purchased because they were mahogany, but realized after the fact.

Mahogany is a good tone-wood and works well build-wise. Most all the basses out of Japan in the '60s were a form of mahogany. Gibson basses also. There are even rare examples of '60s P-basses with mahogany bodies.
