SHOW YOUR DISTRESSED FINISHES!

This really killed me. Dropped my phone, hit that spot and the laquer came off. Alot of laquer.

My recently acquired 68P. All original except for the pickups - it came with a cheap repro set, so I threw in my spare set from a 64P Bass. There truly is something special about the way nitro-cellulose ages...

And here's a few of my Jazzmaster Bass VI I built a 7 years ago. Body wood from an 18th century barn salvaged from a farm outside Seattle in 2010. Pickguard from a 59 JM, pickups and trem NOS 1978 JM. I originally painted it in a rather over-baked tinted amber nitro, which looked pretty hideous, so I oversprayed it in sunburst. It got worked pretty hard for 4 years in a 3 piece band. I don't play it much these days, but it sounds so good, it is a joy to just plug in and wander on when no-one else is around.

The body and headstock have recently begun to show checking - you can see some running through the shark's mouth decal...

Beautiful. That is wear than cannot be imitated.

This is a repeat performance from post #392 (awhile ago!) that I re-watched just now - love this bass solo by Scot Sutherland from a show with the Tommy Castro Band. His groove and references are right up my alley! It's like a Fender bass version of a Dexter Gordon sax solo.

Wow them chords he busts out at 1:26 before going into the Hendrix bit are super sweet. He's a groover on a very very awesome looking and sounding P.

Just before "Them Changes" bass-line right? (1:18) Those are cool chords! And at 3:37 (with wah) he sounds like Michael Henderson on the live Miles recordings from the mid 70's. Down & dirty - that's how to play a live bass-solo! (with drum accompaniment) It certainly got the audience going! Great pointy shoes too! A woman in the audience comments on them at the beginning saying she wondered if he'd trade one of her shoes for one of his! Her partner sez, "it's worth a shot!" :D
