Looks like it was coated with tar including the white pg and played like hell.
A long time ago I used to hear my father say an expression I don’t hear around much, but I believe this fits the bill. This bass looks like “it’s been to hell and back”.
So much forensic DNA on that one...and yes, likely some blood. Some look like they might smell good, not this one. I think it might smell like Rumpelstiltskin or Rob Zombie.

Nice! My '78 has almost the Identical wear pattern lol. I love the finish checking and faded color. Gives it so much character

I bought this a few years back here on Talk Bass. It is a MIJ 62 reissue. The person had sanded it down to repaint and then decided to sell and I bought it.
It was a kit bass for me, I had to put it together and a few parts were missing. I did not bother with new paint, just left it alone and added a bad ass bridge and EMG pickups and just put it back together.
I have since sold it and have seem it listed here since. I liked the way it played and sounded - IT WAS NOT DISTRESSED - IT WAS SANDED. But I thought it looked different - so here it is.

On it's way to me. Nash does a great job with these. I'm looking forward to playing this guy and seeing what the Lollar pups sound like!

This bass is stunningly beautiful to me. I'd absolutely love to hear what it sounds like in real life.
