I think you are just being paranoid. I play in a real loud R+B group with keys and "dueling guitarists", as the drummer and I call them. (Damn good guitarists, BTW.) My T212 is more than enough for inside medium club work. I do, however, have a ton of headroom (Crown XTi2000).

And the monitor doesn't have to be just for you. Just a little in the ones meant for vocals/horns/keys/drummer make a difference is how the bass sounds on stage. Again, just a little. It will beef up the bottom end on stage so your rig can be thinned out and cut through.

Jazzy, that is an interesting idea about the power amp, and one that I have considered. Say I get a stewart 2.1, and run the pre out from the UL502 when I feel I need a bit more power. Will this really give me more usuable headroom? The last thing I want to do is spend more money right now if I don't need to. Also, considering I used to run a Quest II into a power amp, but down sized to the UL502 due to weight savings, I'm not sure I really want to go backwards.

I would not recommend the Stewart thing at all. That would make sense if you had a large cab or two moderate sized cabs that were significantly underpowered. However, the UL502 should push those two 112's fine. You are running into the issue (if you even have an issue, per your comment) of just not being able to push enough air with two small cabs. Additional wattage will help very little in your situation IME.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Thank for clarifying that. On the other side of this, I was thinking about eventually getting a UL410 again, as well as a Stewart 2.1. I was thinking that for really big gigs, and the occasional outside gig, that I could run the pre out to the stewart, and then run on channel of the stewart to the UL410, and the other to the UL112 stack. That would be so sick....:D

I have a feeling that your T212 can handle more power than my UL112 stack though, as well as hit a bit harder. I will definitely do what I can to work with the PA as needed. Thanks.

I'm concerned because even in our practice space, I seem to get swallowed up a bit at time. Even though this band plays mostly mainstream rock, blues, and country covers, one of the guitarists and the drummer come from a metal background and can on occasion get really, really loud. I haven't gigged with this band yet, but will start on a regular basis within a month. However, I'm concerned that I won't cut it at a club that doesn't have a good PA. This is just a kind of rant for me, but if anyone has any tips, outside of buying more gear that is, please let me know.

IMHO, my 502/UL112 (x2) setup works nicely in a variety of gigs.

what i do, is set my overall sound from my bass, in this case the MTD's onboard preamp. then i use the EQ on the amp to help me cut. for me, its all in the parametric EQ midrange section.

i.e. i boost about two clicks right, then spin the frequency knob to find that spot that'll help me to cut nicely. upper mids give me the cut, while the lower mids give me that gut wrenching punch.

again, i highly doubt you'd have trouble cutting thru, cause your / my rig can bust some major volume.

Would there be any advanatges to running one UL112 with a UL210 as opposed to two UL112s? Would the extra speaker in the UL210 allow me to get a bit louder with some more punch? I would probably use the UL210 with the tweeter at normal, and use the UL112 with its tweeter off. Any thoughts to this configuration?

I know that is the general concensus, but I was wondering how specifically it applied to the Epifani UL cabs. I was always a fan of 10" speakers untill I found neo 12's, but I have been very curious about combining the two, kind of like how accugroove and schroeder does.

I just know from my experience, combining drivers is my favorite way to go.

I'm going to hit up B.E. over in Austin and see what they'll do for me in a trade in for the AG.
They have a new UL212 and a used UL210, and those together should be pretty rad.

Yes, I like doing this as well. I've done that with different sized drivers, and also with different brands of the same size driver. F'r instance I once ran an Ampeg 2x10 with a Mesa/Boogie 2x10. The Mesa had wider frequency range, but the Ampeg was punchier. I also loved running my Berg HT115 and HT310 cabs. In both of those rigs, I got the best of both worlds.

I'd tell you about my UL115/UL210 stack but I haven't gigged it yet

I've thought about doing the same thing. If the 210UL and 112UL stacked nicely vertically, that would be a really flexible and portable rig. You can stack them, just not cleanly unfortunately.
