Well, people on this thread would probably say that you get what you pay for! If you like that "Epifani sound", then they are worth the money. Plus they are built like tanks and can take a lot of use and abuse, and still deliver.
In a way, you may break even or even save money with Epifani because you might find you need less Epi gear (compared to other brands) to fullfill your needs. (At least that's what I tell The Wife.)

The list prices are not representative of the selling price. And, as mentioned above, they really are something if the tone fits your profile.
Edit: Also, the list price on an Epi112UL is about $300 less than the Tri112L.... so, the Epi's seem relatively moderately priced considering they are a relatively small boutique company.

+1 And they have a really good 3 year warranty on the cabs including the drivers. Which is better than most.
/Cant forget that its as loud and more articulate than cabs that weigh twice as much.
Thanks Kirk, it's all worked out pretty well. I must confess though, that G.A.S. never sleeps and I'm finding the Clarus a little tame at times, especially with the slab basses. It's got me lusting after a UL-502, but that'll never happen, so now I'm getting curious about the Mark Bass Little Mark II. I'd really like to try one out. These light weight, good sounding amps are great, especially for an old feeb like me.

I haven't played an Ampeg cab that has sounded good to me (although they make SO many models, I'm sure there are some nice ones out there)... so I can't really think about it on the continuum that you mention.
Tri112L vs. Epi112UL... The Tri112L has a very large low mid hump (reminds me a little bit of the Schroeder 1212 lower mids... not good or bad, but quite pronounced), and a very polite treble response. The Tri112L also has a very deep full low end for a small cab.
The Epi112UL has more upper mid clarity, less lower mids, not quite the deep low end ooomph of the tri112L and a TOTALLY different treble response.... very crisp and airy with the attenuator at about 9 o'clock.
Very different sounding... I would describe the Tri112L as 'meaty and punchy' and the Epi112UL as 'crisp, clear and articulate. Both are great depending on the tone you want.
That's the only 'direct A/B comparison I've made between the UL and AG line. I didn't notice the mid hump in the larger Accugroove cabs, but in general, the comparison probably holds up reasonable well across the two lines. IMO of course.

+1 The 410UL at 57 pounds is even more amazing to me... and the weight specs are quite accurate. The 310UL at 47 pounds is probably the best size/volume/tone/weight ratio in the industry... again, if you like the EpiUL sound, of course.

Yeah I've owned 2 Ampeg cabs myself and was totally let down by both, so just wondering from that vantage.
But that's interesting between the two. I prefer the low lows and not so much treble, but I do know what you mean about it feeling "airy" when you plug it in, as the AG doesn't have that at all.
Course not that you HAVE to have that, but the more I play it the more I notice it's not there.
May have to check one out in person if I can find one.
hehe, yeah its a beard scratcher... How all that wonderfull tone coming from something that weighs as much as some heads. And has pretty impressive response and power ratings.

Just a thought, but you might want to check out the PS cabs too. Regular drivers and birch plywood, so a little heavier but a little lower, IMO. Still gets that Epifani goodness.
