Yeah I've seen those around also. I'd have to see what the sound comparisons are, but I've heard it's not a totally different animal.

The UL stuff just kills me on portability tho. :)

True. That's why I have one of each.:)

The weight difference b/t the 112s are only 8 lbs, but I can see what you're saying if talking about a cab with multiple drivers.

Just attenuate the tweeter on the UL to get some old school ooze.

I didn't see any of the Pro series 212's on MF. Do they make that model or just a 112?

a guy coming from an ampeg kinda sound will very much dig the lower mid fatter tones of the Epifani Performance line. course, they'll also be amazed how much more clear their rig sounds, too. :p

Will check out next time I'm in Austin, as I think Bass Emporium stocks Epifani gear.

Or just do like most everything else, buy it and if I don't like it, sell it! :p

Just a quick question for my fellow epifani users. As mentioned I have the UL112 stack powered by the UL502. I am in a new cover band, and I have never had this many pieces in a band before. I am battling two guitarists, a keys player, drummer, percussionist, and two lead singers. My originals band is just a 4 peice (3.5 peice really, as the singer/keys player sings more than plays) and I've never had a problem with this setup in that setting. I'm concerned because even in our practice space, I seem to get swallowed up a bit at time. Even though this band plays mostly mainstream rock, blues, and country covers, one of the guitarists and the drummer come from a metal background and can on occasion get really, really loud. I haven't gigged with this band yet, but will start on a regular basis within a month. However, I'm concerned that I won't cut it at a club that doesn't have a good PA. This is just a kind of rant for me, but if anyone has any tips, outside of buying more gear that is, please let me know.

Well, I assume you have tweaked your EQ and all that stuff right? Try boosting the mids a little more than usual.

If messing with your EQ doesnt work. Try to position you rig in a better spot so that it sits in the mix better. IF not, I would go get a power amp.. Nothing to fancy something that can be bridged @ 4ohms and pumps out around 1200watts and can take a balanced XLR input. IIRC the ul112 is roughly 600w RMS so that would give you some good volume.

Well, you've discovered why Epi makes small cabs and also large cabs. Two 112UL's does not a 410UL make. It does not surprise me that two 112UL's would not totally cover a large, loud multi instrument mix. I've never found any small cab or even small cab stack that could.

However, I would guess your 2x112UL stack would cover all but the loudest gig. Sometimes, you will be a little buried, but not the end of the world. If it starts to happen a lot, get a 410UL (again!).

Edit: To be more helpful... cut the low bass and crank the low mids a little more... it might not be 'your sound', but it will help your rig cut through more on those (hopefully) rare occasions where you are feeling buried.

Well, definitely wait and see if your rig doesn't cut it. And don't forget that those cabs are conservatively rated. Trying putting a little (just a touch) of your bass in the monitors. Even a crappy PA should be able to handle a little bass in the monitors.

Ken, I am definitely aware that the UL112 stack in no UL410, but the issue lies in what I can easily carry and what I can pack in my car. Just to make clear, I haven't gigged with this band yet, so I really don't know what is going to happen. I am just a bit nervous I will be buried.

Jazzy, that is an interesting idea about the power amp, and one that I have considered. Say I get a stewart 2.1, and run the pre out from the UL502 when I feel I need a bit more power. Will this really give me more usuable headroom? The last thing I want to do is spend more money right now if I don't need to. Also, considering I used to run a Quest II into a power amp, but down sized to the UL502 due to weight savings, I'm not sure I really want to go backwards.

Geni, I definitely plan on running my direct out from the UL502 to every PA I get the chance on. I'm just concerned that when a monitor isn't available to me, that I will just get buried.

This is all me just being paranoid, and I know that. I'm sure I will be much happier than expected when I start gigging with this new band, but I just wanted to put my concerns out there. Again, thanks for all your help everybody.
