Always wanted to approach the Fender CS to get a quote for a custom, but, other than going to some far-flung branches of Guitar Center (and probably having to deal with typical clueless GC staff), I haven't found any other way to get in touch with them. Anyone got any details?

I've called them before. I believe their contact info is on their website. Correct me if I'm wrong. :)

I don't think I've ever seen a CS 51P, did they do a run of them at some point or was it a special order? Very cool.

The two main runs were the 40th anniversary in 1991, and the biggest run was the 50th anniversary in 2001 (pretty expensive!).
I've seen guys posted they've had em done at times other than the anniversay years too.

I think a lot of us like them. I think $$$ may be an issue ;)
Exactly, and depending on when it was constructed they're not to true specs as advertise, and when you are forking over this type $$$$ , it is about the way the instrument sounds, but it's more about the details to the specs of the instrument that it was constructed to be like if we're talking about the 60's and 70's basses
