SHOW YOUR G&L'S!!!!

How do you compare your Stingray 5 to this L2500?

Well, my first impression is they're two very different guitars. The SR5 feels a bit chunkier (definitely heavier than the GL) in the hands than the 2500. The neck on the SR has a more noticable taper at the nut than the 2500 does. Very much like a jazz vs P-bass neck comparison. The G&L's neck feels beefier in the hand.

From a sound perspective, I'd bet that with some effort I could find a sound in the 2500 that's at least very close to the SR, but that's not why I bought it.....the MFD's really have their own sweet voice that I like a lot.

Quality wise: Fit & finish is impeccible on both. Fretwork is first-class as well.

I'll get to ring out the 2500 at Friday's gig, so far I've only been able to kick the tires at rehearsals. So far, I'm quite pleased. :bassist:

Yessir, I concur.
That combination, to me, just says "early Fender,' which was what I was replacing.
The JB2 is a muuuuch better built instrument, tho a tad more "modern" sounding than the 62 RI it replaced. Not like "Sadowsky Jazz Modern," but definately more present on the top end. The 62 wore nickel rounds, the JB2 took LaBella flats to calm it down.
Now it's just huge and clear with that lil ole mid scoop the J basses tend to have.

The 2nd Gen JB2 is a whole different beast than the older, early SB2-JJ G&L's.

Theeeeeen, there's the whole El Toro take on the Jazz Bass...the El Toro is a wicked aggressive dual humbucker, active J bass. While it's passive mode bites, by me, it's active mode will rip your face off.

Named Perseus after the Perseus galaxy which contains a black hole which creates the lowest note in the known universe:

My favorite part: In musical terms, the pitch of the sound generated by the black hole translates into the note of B flat... the note is 57 octaves lower than middle-C
