Hey guys! Just thought I would post photos of my Daion Savage... I finally got her fixed a few months ago and have been playing her a ton... with the new EMG P/J pickups and the string-through body she sounds BIG, growly, yet clear in tone... a bit like if you bred a Ric and a Modulus VJ... and I am loving it!!

Here's some eye candy! (NOTE: these photos were with the previous pickups)...

Jackson JM6 PJ. I bought it off Thundar on here, thinking it was Korean but I emailed Jackson and they said it was Japanese.

I really have a fondness for alot of those Japanese basses made back in the day. I`m not talking so much about Fender MIJs, or run-of-the-mill Ibanezes. I`m talking about the kinda kooky ones or the clones. Anyone else share my interest in that chapter of bass design ? Let`s see `em !

Here are two of my four Japanese Thunderbirds, on the left a set neck Greco Thunderbird II and on the right an Ibanez bolt on neck IV, both are from 1977.

1979 Suzuki bass. Neck-through, 24 frets, P/J mikes. Missing headstock logo, I removed it because the foil on the headstock was damaged when I bought it (bought it new, got a discount).
Have only seen a couple of other Suzuki basses on the web, and only one like mine. It was a Ebay sale, but that one was branded "Sunrise" and had a routing around the body edge, different knobs and a different switch location (second pic).
It seems to be pretty rare. Third pic shows the headstock logo from a Suzuki guitar.

Here's my latest project, a vintage Japanese Kent Basin Street bass. It's ugly, and it was in terrible shape when I got it. After a little love it's all freshened up again! It's got the thickest neck I've seen on any bass guitar, no truss rod, and non-adjustable bridge saddles.

Hi,
here are some pictures of my new bass:

This is a late 1984, early 1985 Jazz Sound TJB-45 in metallic red.
At that time, they changed the catalog, and the TJB60 and higher models were stopped. I think that they used last parts (pickups, pots, bone nut and reverse tuners) to build a few basses like this one and FENDER32's Black Jazz Sound! Finally, i'm lucky! I have got a lowend model with higher species like a TJB60-80, minus the copper plates under pots-pickups and the body. Mine has a 4 pieces alder body, but i don't care about it: it's lightweight (3.6-3.7kgs) and pretty resonant!
The neck is slightly flatter and wider than my old '82 TJB-60 (still 1 1/2'' at the nut), but that's a good thing for me, because i usually prefer PB neck shape.
I changed the pickups for a set of Aero jazz style 1 wich have a more open and clear sound, and put some backelite Fender Knobs.

My only complaint is that this bass came from factory whithout pickguard.

Heres a pic of my friends esp 400 series p bass. He bought it used and it has been upgraded with a badass 2 bridge emg pickups and hipshot tuners. I wish i had a better pic.

Sure.....here's some of my Japanese basses.

91 Charvel E-5: definitely in the kooky category

here's a 1988 Charvel lefty model2 with a P/HB config and a Kahler: for sure kookly looking when compared to a normal p/j.

here's a 1995 Charvel JX bass: not a jazz clone, not kooky..eh, who knows.

and my kooky looking Japanese Tbird: ( TBIRD1958 has a sparkle green one )

maybe a 95 Jackson JPB makes the "kooky" category? naw...More of the clone-lawsuit-rippoff of a Marleaux Consat only unit Jackson ever had to stop due to copyright infringement.

the list goes on and on as I have a lot of Japanese made Jackson basses.....

These basses are totally cool - I recently played a brand new Vox reissue teardrop bass, and good lord it sounded and played like a dream.

Huge price tag though
