Hey, I'm a newbie...I just posted my hello on the introduction thread. I have my one Lado Bass that I am told is a 1981. Here are some pics if I do this right.

This is almost my exact bass, here are some crappy pics I took with my phone.

I just now found this thread! I had a Studio 604 model that I would sell a kidney to get back! It was ALL flamed maple and purpleheart except the fingerboard...Gorgeous! It had the little Bartolini soapbars and was one of the best sounding basses I ever had. It could be bright and punchy, warm and smooth, or even bell-like Rickenbacker-ish. Has anyone seen her??!!? Unfortunately I don't have any pics of her. The construction quality of Lados is like nothing else. They really are amazing basses.

here is my lado

just had it modded with an audere pre, hipshot bridge, brass nut and the neck redone. pretty solid bass. am i finally in a club now?

I love the lower horn on yours. I guess that one really is custom! My Studio 6 has the 'custom' truss rod cover, but I guess it was just a custom wood combo or something. The body shape is standard.

80s Zebra custom. Someone should start a Lado club.

A friend of mine had that model. The rear pickup sounded amazing when soloed, like jaco and a half. Neck was super chunky.

I realize you'd asked this question some time ago, but considering how rare they are I'm not surprised one hasn't shown up yet (I talked to Joe about them last year, he said he made 12, and he has the parts for one last one in a box waiting until he retires).

I've owned a couple of other lados over the years, my first was a Zebra custom, but it was stolen
I bought the headless and a 5-string Lado with the insurance cheque since he didn't have any Zebras available at the time ... the 5-string was sold a few years back, but I've held onto the headless - it weighs a ton, but sounds awesome.

I remember vividly playing a Lado Solo II (same as dricket's one) in a music shop in the early 80's. I was floored by that bass and really wanted it. But at that time I couldn't afford it. I am very pleased to see your photos of it. Thanks for sharing.

I was gifted an old beat up unplayable bass labelled J.K. Lado & Co. and after a lot of work it is almost finished being fixed up. I haven't been able to find a lot of information about it but I think it's a Standard II from the 70s. It's all maple with a split pickup. Has anyone seen one of these anywhere? I'll post pictures soon.

This is my Lado Falcon 2. It was my first bass, bought it used in 86'. Does anyone have an idea what the market value today would be? It was made between 83' & 85'. I may need to let her go.

Here's mine..I've had it for the past 15 years or so..I was told many years ago that it was made in 1977, but i'm not sure. I don't know the model name either. Stamped on back of headstock: CDN R-2-112

I just found this thread (new member). That model bass is called the Rock II. I bought one new in 1982. Sold it in the late 90's.
Mine had the same pickups as svt's. As a matter of fact, that could be mine, they look so much alike.

I almost bought that one from Ed's a few yaers ago-went back with the $$$$ and it was gone!!!!!! Let me know if you ever want to sell it.
