I bought this bass a few months ago off a buddy of mine for about $50 and a sandwich(I still owe him the sandwich).

It started out as a metallic blue Squier P bass. By the time I got my mitts on it, my buddy had...

-Stripped the body/neck and spray painted all of it black.
-Thrown on a bunch of stickers as shown.
-Removed the pickguard. Replaced the control plate with duct tape. :scowl:
-Spray painted the bridge and tuner bushings black.
-Made strap locks out of duct tape. :eek:
-Gigged it like a madman.

Honestly, it felt/played AMAZING up until the electronics went. So I'm currently doing some work on it. I'll update when I finish reviving this beast from the dead. :D

Now THESE are the kinds of relics I like, especially some of those P basses!

Honestly, I like having a bass in pristine condition but there's something about a bass that's been worn in naturally like this. You get the feeling that it *really* is a great bass, otherwise it wouldn't have been used that much.

Someone's tried to repaint the scratches over at one stage in it's life. Notice the masking line on the back.
Whoever put this Ric to good use obviously like to string their bass low and loved to wear studded belts! :D

These worn spots near the bridge are really weird. I'm trying to work out what sort of technique you'd have to make these- maybe some kind of striking plectrum motion?? The big crater is colored in with black marker.

aaahhh yes, the ole magic marker trick. Tried a many a time, but never quite gets the job "there: lol

. . . here's my 1966 Fender Jazzmaster guitar with real road wear.

I bought it about 15 years ago, and this is exactly how it looked at that time. The original owner told me he gigged with it A LOT, and essentially "rode it hard and put it away wet."

He apologized for the condition, but it's only grown on me.
