Adorable K9 Officer Poses In Full Uniform For His Official Portrait
World, meet Chico — a K9 officer with Florida's Orange County sheriff's office. While on the job, Chico usually goes au naturel. But when the opportunity strikes, he sure cleans up real nice.

Evidently, it was picture-taking time the other day at the office where Chico works — a chance to snap photos of staffers in their more formal attire. Chico was not only included in the process, he showed everyone else how it's done. For his official portrait, Chico went all out. "He even wore a tie for the photo," the sheriff's office wrote.

He nailed it. "Chico is a German shepherd. He's 5 and a half. He's been with the OCSO for about 4.5 years. He is a patrol dog and also a drug K9. He lives with his handler and his family," a spokesperson for the sheriff's office told The Dodo, adding: "He loves tug-o-war and Kongs." For as effortlessly as he's able to pull off a formal look, Chico's quite capable at casual, too.

Who's a handsome boy? Chico — that's who.

Yesterday 11/14/2020 at Mt Hood. Kona loves snow almost as much as the river. He's searching for the snowball I threw ;-) He'll do this forever as long as I clean the snow build up from his feet occasionally. He just won't wear his little footie/booty things. I put them on and he just stands there...This was a nice smooth snow field when we arrived:) K'pup scored first tracks!

It was 28f, blowing mid 30's Snowing sideways. You could feel the clumps hit... happily I brought goggles.

Cool! [OK, pun intended. :)]

We had an early snow storm last week. Overnight lows in the single (°F) digits. All 3 of my dogs are small, and don't enjoy dragging the business through snow. I have to shovel trails out in the backyard before letting them out. And 2 are single-coat dogs. Poor guys. Bundle them up, I do.

So, when the weather is like that on Mt Hood, what is it doing in Hood River and in Portland and Bend?

Coda injured a pad on his front paw on Sunday...not sure how, assume from digging.
Emergency Vet visit yesterday. Nothing we can do except keep him quiet, etc.
So, the 3 walks/day (1+ mile each) are out for awhile (these walks are great for me, too!)
Same, too, for the daily doogie day care...which he loves...we were told he has "a crew".
Suck-O!

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am not a "heaven or hell" kinda guy.
I like this one, though... :)

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.

He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them..

After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.

When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.

When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'

'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.

Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.

Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up'.The man gestured, and the gate began to open.

'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveller asked.

'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'

The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.

After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.

'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'

'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in..'

'How about my friend here?' the traveller gestured to the dog.

There should be a bowl by the pump.'

They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveller filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.

When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.

'What do you call this place?' the traveller asked.

This is Heaven,' he answered.

'Well, that's confusing,' the traveller said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'

'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.'

'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'

'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.'
