FB memories showed me this from 2014...
Reno had a sleepover at our place while my buddy Marc went back to his hometown (of Reno) for a couple days

He's a good kisser![]()
This is Barney. Pic is from shortly after we rescued him about seven years ago. Best estimate of his age at that time was 6-8 y.o. He belonged to a disabled vet who was no longer able to care for him as he was going to an assisted living center and a wheelchair. Barney (not his original name) was a spoiled rotten brat too smart for his own good. His previous owner fed him from the table so he was fat and lazy. We put him on "healthy weight" food and started getting him more active. While he was fine with my teenage son, he didn't like small children. I think he may have been mistreated by them at some time. In the last year his health has been declining. He had joint problems so he became less active. Recently he started having trouble getting up the steps into the house. Never one to miss a meal, he's been off his feed on and off for awhile. Drinking a lot of water too. Several accidents in the house (never did that...ever) indicated a more serious issue with his kidneys. Long story short, he got old and was starting to suffer. Never a whimper out of him mind you (except when you trim his nails) but old age had caught up with him. The bottom picture is my son and his friends giving him a warm goodbye Thursday night. We took him for that last walk Friday. I have tears streaming down my face as I write this. As all pet lovers know it's a struggle between your head and your heart to know when it's time. God bless Barney.

It is always tough putting down a family member. Been there, done that three times before.
