Just redid my board with help from a friend and it’s as clean as I can get it.
I'm deeply contemplating and coveting a GT1000CORE. How have you liked it?Also posted in the compact PBs thread.
It's one of my favorite tools in 45 years of gear buying and certainly one of my favorite all-in-one rigs. So much in a single small box. I have built 10 presets and can spend an hour getting lost in each one with ambient tones and other aural journeys.
I tried the full GT-1000 and surprisingly didn't care for it even though it sounds the same. The Core actually has some features that the GTK lacks that are important to me (dual inputs, patch range setting). Plus it just looks and feels better to me.
As for the sounds, the amps and effects are great. I thought having only three foot switches would be too limiting, but with the FS-7 for patch scrolling, I have plenty of effects control with the onboard switches. Some are even assigned to double duty.
For reference, I've had countless rigs of separate pedals and various amps over the decades -- mono, stereo, analog, digital, tubes, SS, SansAmps, etc. I have owned the HX Stomp and currently have the HX Stomp XL. Both are great units too, and I really like them.
But I love the Core on a different level. I hear and feel more depth and magic in it. Reminds me of some old Roland rack units (SDE-1000, DEP-5) and a set of wonderful TC Electronic Nova series pedals I had years ago. Plus the UI just aligns better with my thinking and approach. Ditto the simple, if antiquated, monochromatic screen, which I love. Colored displays and especially touch screens annoy me.
I've also had a few Zooms over the years and other brands of modelers with multi-effects but never anything high end like a Kemper or Fractal. Maybe they are better, but for the price and other factors, I'm set for now with good old Boss.
Just be sure to enable bass mode on each patch you use so the tuner will pick up your low notes.
