Shuttle 9.0?

I completely agree that the 9.0 is much warmer than the 6.0. A lot have described the 6.0 as a modern clean sound, which is probably true, but the 9.0 to me is old school BUTTER.. smooth and fattening, just like I like it!!!!!

you said warmer.... that was the first thing that i noticed when i got my 12.0
was how warm it was.. and right out of the box with all flat it seemd to have a wider bottom and more hifi top even when running all eq at 12 noon.

My 12 is my favorite amp!!!! should have it back today...:hyper:

Im thinking of selling my 6 to turn it into a 9.... just to be current with what is fresh..and i think the 9 (from what you have desribed) has a similar tone pallette as the 12.0 sort of... Win win situation on the 9.0 i think it will be a big seller.. I have to get mine soon.. just clearing oyt the garage.. anyone want a early 70s SVT head? its not cheep.:D

Through the 12t combo cambo cabinet(or any other tho I played through the 12t) the 9.0 is a much warmer sounding head all else being equal. So, if you don't need more power but need more warmth, the 9.0 is a winner

This amp is next on my list...I just got to pull the finances together and do it soon!

My GBE 1200 is still my workhorse for most things, and definately my favorite head tone wise...but 900 watts at 4lbs?...gotta have one soon...

The 9.0 looses NOTHING in terms of punch from the 6.0. It is everything the 6.0 has, plus the smooth/fat/rich sound the 12/1200 give you. It is an all around winner in my book!!

Now if my Uber 410 would just get here so I can do some demolition...LOL!!!!!

For agedhorse or hasbeen:

What is it about the Shuttle 9 that makes it reportedly "much warmer" than the Shuttle 6 and why doesn't the Shuttle 6 have that warmth?

Can anything be changed in the Shuttle 6 to achieve that warmth?

I aint them, but you CAN get there with the 6.0 by hitting the bass boost and turning the bass up about 2-3 clicks, then adjust mids & treble to your bass's voice.... play with it a bit, you'll find it.

I agree that there is plenty of eq available on the 6.0 to get to where the 9.0 is too. I guess though, it also depends on somebody's definition of "warmth": more bottom?....less high end? etc.

Also, the power difference between the two amps will make the "dynamics" between them different: everything else being equal, one may produce lows more effectively. I guess what I'm saying is that the boost in watts alone is going to make the amp react and feel differently. This may also affect the tone.

I have been doing that with excellent results since I bought my Shuttle 6 and I have no complaint about it's warmth , especially with the passive tone on the bass turned down just a bit but I'm curious as to why it's being reported here that the Shuttle 9 is "much warmer" than the 6 and if there's a component or topology difference between the 6 and 9 (other than the PHAT) that would account for it.

You yourself mentined the "old school BUTTER" tone of the Shuttle 9 compared to the 6.

Hasbeen thanks for the info, apparently I was typing when you posted.

So what you're saying is that it could be due to the extra headroom of the 9?

Roger:

Isn't there also a difference in the setting on the low frequency roll-off (or high-pass filtering, if you will)?

My MAX12 made it home safely yesterday...
from the amp Doc at GB..
it was only an accident .. really... it just fell..
don't report me to APS (Amp Protection Services).. It was just an accident..

tore the Input jack off the board.... but it still worked..... now that is built like a tank.... great amp !!! and GREEATTT service from GB again..
