Shuttle 9.0?

Hey guys

Quick question for the Genz guys, or any amp/cab experts. The Shuttle 9.0 has actually just made my recent cabinet purchases much more useful. I was determined to get a small mini stack 2 x 112, but I think my money is now going to go on the Shuttle 9.0 and that extra power for my medium sized cabs. It will also provide an amp that can be used for silent practice with the headphone and ipod input.

Will the Shuttle 9.0 be safe for these following cabinets?

Using it at 8 ohms through 1 Aguilar 8 Ohm DB212? So that’s 500W into a 600W cab. I’m assuming this is fine?

Using it at 4 ohms through 2 Aguilar DB212s? So that’s 900W into 1200W capable cab setup. Im assuming if the above is ok, this will be even better!

Using it at 4 ohms through a Bergantino HS410? So that’s 900W into a highly sensitive 800W cabinet. I know these cabs thrive on high powered amps so is this ok?

Please realise I wont ever be using the amp on full whack….I never have had to crank an amp that high. Im kinda glad I didn’t get two DB112s now as that would be overpowering the cabinets a little bit! I also never really have a lot of bass cranked through it….I normally tend to use a fairly flat EQ.

Any suggestions or comments would be appreciated!

All of the above is A-OK. Just use the same process to evaluate as you would any amp-cab combo. Listen for driver stress, and turn down when you hear it. It's really not much more complicated than that.

even when sending my 6.0 @ 4 ohms into limit mode and hitting that light alot at the end of the show the 6.0 is never above room temp... and i cant detect any heat all all coming from the side vent .. I would say its actually cool...

lol... I drove it on my test week in July on an outdoor gig in the sun plugged in to dual Uber210's. It was a rock band and we were pumping. I never got warmer than my StroboStomp. I guess the heat thingy worked

My "6" is the same in similar "end of the night" situations.

Which is why I asked about whether the "6" would be able to benefit from the PHAT topology.

BTW, I backed off the lows a bit and it stopped hitting the limit light, and actually sounded better at that volume with less lows.

It seems to me like the situation I was in was like the "loudness" circuit on my old stereo. One thing it did was enhance bass response at lower volume levels. When you turned the amp up the loudness (bass enhance) wasn't as necessary.

I wouldn't blame somebody for asking that question. It isn't simply red-lining the 6.0. The power modules between the two are different.

Our PHAT topology is what allows us to get 900 watts into the same size package. So in the end, if you can make one go thermal under EXTREME playing circumstances, like I said about other amps of ours, I'll eat it.

Sounds like you guys are totally on top of this. Even with the efficiency (and hence 'cool running') of these class D amps, 900 watts is momo power, and cramming all that power into that small space probably does result in some cooling challenges.

I know, for example, that my Puma500 can crank and stay cool to the touch all night. However, putting double that wattage into the same box (Puma1000) results in that unit getting warm when really pushed, from what I understand.

Congrats on what looks like a very cool product. Put variable voicing filters on the 9 and I'll buy one:D:)

I am definitely going to have one of the 9.0's in the near future.

This solves a lot of problems for me.

Running a 9 into my 400watt 8 ohm 2x10 will just be peachy. My Jazz Band seems to be getting a little louder. Yesterday my LMIII could not keep up with just the one cab. We just landed a new Guitar Player and he likes to crank it a little more which brings everything up.

Headed over right now to Americana rehearsal and have a similar situation there. I really do like just taking my 2x10 NEO Cab.I know my cabs will take it since I regularly run them with a PLX2 1804 at 600 watts per side. Now that's not dimed mind you but solid.

I just keep running into a wall. The 9 seems like it will dig a hole through it. :D

For me I really liked the 12.0 but with two cabs and the bigger head I wanted to stay smaller. The 9 would allow me the luxury of a tiny head and one cab most of the time and just add another cab when needed.

Hell, I'd take a 10,000 watt amp into a NEOX112 because they badass!!!!!!

I'd have to run the gain at like .0032 to keep from firing the cone through the grill and lacing the first 10 rows with shrapnel. But hell, anything for artistic integrity!!!! :bassist:

Be funny as hell....hit the open E and watch the cab shoot backwards out from under the rack and across the stage like a freakin' bowling ball.....YAHOO!!!!!

Ok so this is a bit off topic I suppose, but there seem to be a lot of folks that are familiar with the Genz stuff.
I have an old LS112, which I like alot. I want to keep that around, but I want to add another 112 to the equation. Is this a good idea or would it make more sense to just offload the LS and get something new and shiny with a deeper frequency range?
I'll be getting a 6.0 in the near future to power it....the 9.0 just doesn't make sense to me for the places I am playing, although it is quite sexy in black.
Also FYI, I am one of those people that likes lots of headroom for a nice clean sound, and my thought is that the 6.0 will give me plenty.
I do worry that the power rating on the LS (200W @8) might be a little low.
any thoughts?
