I like the bit crusher effects. My Zoom B3 has a couple bit crusher effects, i can do some sweet bass lines that sound like they're from old video games. I've actually got a riff that kind of sounds like it could belong in mega man when i use it

Other than that though, I just have experience with OD, fuzz, chorus, dist, etc... i know what you mean, i wish there was more variety. But then again, that's the beauty of mixing and matching pedals to come up with a badass unique sound

sooooo.... there's LOADS of variety. if you want to play with weird stuff on the cheap, pick up a Line 6 M5. there's some neat wiggly filter and ring mod and toan scrunchin stuff in there.

Get on Youtube and look for Gearmandude and Fuzzboxgirl pedal demo's. It doesn't matter what they're trying out, you get hours of entertaining cheese'n'sleaze, and yes, I've ended up getting a few of the stompers that they've monkeyed around with.

Regarding multieffects, they can definitely be used to get unexpected places... but require a bit of thought at times. I think that's why something which is weird out of the box, and which just has to be plugged in and used as is, has so much appeal.

I do love watching vids for things like the Line 6 M series, the Zoom G3/B3, as well as the EHX Effectology series, to see some of the more extreme uses to which they get put. Taking those ideas, and applying them to what I have, has gotten me a lot of places which might at first glance seem impossible with what I have on the board at the moment.

I can do crazy stuff with my Line 6 m9...and they have even created a few new and unique effects that are really over the top... in a good way.

I haven't tried any personally, but for noise and weird, Audible Disease is very nice. I know they're not the originators, but I like the concept in their joystick pedals.

Hey man this thread is a year old, I didn't know a lot about pedals then or where to look for them, I'd only been playing bass for 3 years and using a pedal or 2 for half a year when I posted the thread.
