Silk colors

Lakland Rounds

Are the ball ends matching silk wrap?

I bought a p bass with killer strings on them but I cannot tell if they are laklands or roto 66's. they look like this though in that they are closer to crimson red than bright red

I'd love to see a comprehensive list, with pictures! Just a listing is not that useful since there are, for example, many shades of purple.

This thread will be useful as long as we get actual photos and not descriptions. The pictures will make this thread a huge asset.

ah, cool. i believe the current "search" algorithm lists most recent threads first.

there have been several threads like this over the years...i just did a search and came up with a pretty good bit of information...there were maybe two or three in the past that had a LOT of string types and the associated silk colors...my faves were slowounds for a long time, and i really liked how all of the silks were all different colors

Might be worth noting in a database like this what the ball ends look like (Brass, silver, cyliders, rounded edges, colors, etc...)

I bought this out of Japan - they are round wounds and the bass is medium scale. Anyone who can recognize the magenta silk and give me some info as to what brand is greatly appreciated. I love the strings but they are getting dead and I would love to replace them with the same ones.

I can't help identify the brand. But I do like the colour of the silk.

I could use help with a string ID, as well. I've searched, including this thread, and have come up empty-handed. The strings are very smooth flatwounds. So smooth, you almost can't feel the windings with your fingernail. They have gold silks at both the tuner and bridge ends and gold ball-ends.

Those are DR legends.

Worst silk ever, too thick, doesn't even fit a Stingray.

I like them a lot. Very slick feel.

Silly silk drives me insane. One reason why I have pretty much become a DR fanboi is that they have no silly silk. What happens? I buy their flats and I can't mount them on half of my basses, in fact more than half since the Music Man bridges don't take them either. Normally it's only the thunderbird and the warwicks giving trouble.

I posted a new thread before I found this resource - but I've read through this entire thread and haven't identified my strings yet. Can anyone help? The silks are only on the tuner end - no silks on ball end. Hex core.
These have been sitting in back of store for at least 10 years and were purchased as bulk qty of each individual string - this is the last set they had and they don't remember what they are. Store thought they might be Dean Markley but colors don't match (unless DM used different colors for bulk or had different colors 10-15 years ago).
