Rather than pay for (another) "digital-plus-platinum-whiz-bang" service-upgrade, I cut off the cable TV in 2007, and devoted my free time to learning bass guitar.

I haven't watched cartoons since I was about 14 years old. I've tried watching Ren & Stimpy, King Of The Hill, The Simpsons and Family Guy and can't stand them. Basically dumb, junior high school type of humor. I can see why a teenage would like them but I honestly don't know anyone over the age of 25 who watches them.

I haven't watched cartoons since I was about 14 years old. I've tried watching Ren & Stimpy, King Of The Hill, The Simpsons and Family Guy and can't stand them. Basically dumb, junior high school type of humor. I can see why a teenage would like them but I honestly don't know anyone over the age of 25 who watches them.

I don't really enjoy most of those you listed (with the big exception of Ren and Stimpy - I think Family guy and modern Simpsons suck though), but the crass humor of 90s cartoons is what I consider excellent political commentary that you don't really see in modern shows anymore. They're a reflection of our own insanity.

Note how the role of money, social participation and the struggles of everyday life dictate the entire core of shows like the mentioned Ren and Stimpy, Rocko's Modern Life and even Cow and Chicken. A recent example of that would be Regular Show with its decidedly postmodern (Operaist?) stance on wage labor.

To just see it all as 'junior high type humor' is doing these shows a great injustice.

Oh Man! You missed my two favorites, The Tick, and Geeker. "The Tick" had Mickey Dolenz as Arthur, a great sidekick, and Geeker was a Billy West production. Both had the sense to stop before they ran out of good material. Of the two, I'd say Geeker was the best.

Voted Family Guy out of the OP's choices. Used to love Pinky & the Brain back in the '90s. These days my child keeps me up to date and in later years Regular Show has became one of my all time faves.



Also a lot into Clarence, Steven Universe and The Loud House. Particularly caught my attention how they naturally approach themes as homosexuality, new family schemes, unthinkable 30-40 years ago when I was the designated audience. It was about time really. Only "conflicting" subject back then for us was the flagrant lack of female Smurfs, which with age raised all kinds of questions about their reproduction means.

In no special order: Felix the Cat, Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, Mr. Magoo, Speed Racer, Archie, Bullwinkle, Woody Woodpecker, The Chipmunks. None of that scary anime crap from the mid '70's on (which began with Space Ghost). Also NO to Josie and the Pussycats, Scooby Doo, and Beavis and Butthead.

It's close between The Simpsons and King Of The Hill for me but I went with King Of The Hill. I'm a big fan pf propane and propane accessories and I certainly do not want to be thought of as a giblet head.

I voted Looney Tunes, but I like an awful lot of cartoons. From Felix the Cat to Rocky & Bullwinkle to The Simpsons, Futurama, The Tick, Archer.... sorry, there are just too many to list. I really, really like cartoons.

The evidence is to the contrary. Cartoons on the road are a necessity...I saw "The Triplets Of Bellville" otr in Denton Texas. it was the the best night not performing. (1st clip is R rated) There's even a group that does the music

Archer is another one I've recently seen, thanks to my son loving it.
I love the totally agressively non-politically correct vibe.

It does seem very weird that 'ISIS' is the agency he works for...that causes a double-take every time I hear it!
