I was shown a prototype of the JB at last years show (2008). I think they were only showing it to dealers at that time (which I no longer am). I think it would have been cool if they'd offer some variation of the L2K electronics in it.

^^^ That is the only bass I've ever GASed for that doesn't have 'Fender' on the headstock.

At the risk of being burned at the stake, I find myself wanting one of those JBs. Several things appeal to me:
-better build-quality than what Fender can offer
-traditional Jazz shape (I never cared for the JB-2)
-a real bridge
However, I am all about them bringing back the mini-MFDs. Maybe in a Jazz body?

I actually want a JB as well, mainly because I don't own a Jazz bass. I was actually looking at Lakland Skylines for awhile, but who better to make a better Jazz bass clone than a company formerly owned by the dude who created the Jazz bass?
I wonder what kind of pickups they pack into them. And seriously? What finish/wood is that Tribute model? Looks awesome. If they have it on the 2500 then I may end up getting one.

I really really really like the Jazz shape but I don't want those pups, even with a nice body...

I was thinking mahogany, but I wasn't sure if it was financially feasible to make it in that wood. I don't know about tonewood prices so...
They definitely need to do something to spice up the 5-string line. Not sure about a ET5 though, still haven't really bonded with my classic ET. The current L2500 neck profile is fine IMO.

How many people mod the piss out a Jazz? Now G&L has a platform with all the nice options for the tweakers.

I can't stand the feel of Jazz basses no matter who makes them due to ergonomics.

I spoke to a BBE rep at the show briefly - he said that the 100th C.L.F. L2000 was running around $5k....ouch.
It really was nice, though. That skinny fingerboard felt good, but I was really expecting to see a 3-bolt neck joint when I turned it around...oh well. Best of old and new, according to the rep.
I didn't even see those JBass clones...the booth was definitely low-key.

While purty, the J clones just aren't doing it for me. Just my opinion, but there's too many J clones floating around out there. Plus, remember what happened to their P clone - the Legacy/LB-100? I agree with those that think they would have been better off with Lynx/El Toro reissues, or even a 5-string JB-2 (JB-5, perhaps?).
