Single 12" that has real bottom ?

I had an avatar SB112 for a while that had really nice low end response. But, I play DB a lot, and just could not get past the crossover and tweeter for my purposes....

Wow, that should be great! I was about to suggest a used Epifani T-112 (aka NYC-112). Those have huge low end. The EA Wizzy has a very full low end, though not as big down deep as the T-112. The Bergantino HT-112 is a killer all around 1x12, with very good lows, especially for its size The same can be said for the Glockenklang Space Deluxe.

Tom.

Or the Epifani UL112!!

Wow, what a bunch of tasty suggestions. Maybe I should buy the three best and sort through them!! that would be fun.

I don't need anymore "cutting" ability.... i'm cuttin' now with the 210's... I'd have to change my amp if I'm going to drive any harder.

Seems like the enthusiasm X Votes = GS112 as the leader with this bunch but the New Performance Series PS112 I will definitely read up on. i'm a sucker for new design.

I take it the GS112 and most of the other mentions can handle a low D if not good solid B ... i play detuned 4, whole step low, though I'm still wondering if i need to add a 5-string American Jazz as an alternate for some bottomy tunes. 4 will always be my mainstay with the odd tuning

Hard to put into words. The speaker is angled, so it projects a little differently. So when you play it, it doesn't have a traditional 12" tone. It's a little bassier and rounder, and doesn't seem to have as much articulation as the GS112. Like most of Jorg's cabs, they sound much better in a band situation than alone. This a cab I wish I could have heard with a band.

I'd talk to James Hart, as he's had more experience with the Mini 12. I've only heard one for a short time.

Thanks.

the GS112 handles my low b with no problems at all. doesnt matter which bass i use, it rumbles.

Hi:

Second with Tom on the Epi T112 (NYseries)
I am constantly amazed at how it excels as a standalone.
Did a Earth Day gig in an outdoor ampitheater with
my AlembicF2B/PLX2402 using one channel, and had
to turn *down*, great low end and nice musical highs

+1 or a couple...

I bet you could find a used one for what you would like to spend... I've had 3 GS112's in total (2 new, 1 used), totally loved them, great B responce...

Then I got the UL112, It's by far my favorite! I've heard that the NYC version is great too, bet there are some used ones of them floating around as well.

I had a BagEnd S-12 prior to the GS112's and it was 'ok', but really affordable..

I recently played through a Bergantino single 12" that impressed hell out of me, but they're more expensive - used maybe?

I've been testing cabs for months, including all the others mentioned here. I'm buying a Bergantino. I'm buying a 1x12 right now, and then I'm saving up to buy a 2x10. Same configuration as their big cab, but much more flexible and portable.

Bergantino is the way to go!

Third. The Epi T-112 has the best low-end of any single 12 I've tried. I also have the Berg HT112 and EX112 and two EA Wizzy's...

Most of you haven't had the chance to hear the Performance Series yet, but the PS112, IMO, is a cross between the T (NYC) and the UL series. If you can get a good used T112, that'd be great.

+1 The original Epi T-112 had AMAZING low end. If you can get one of those on the used market... that would be the ticket. I don't hear the BergHT112 to be in the same league as the original Epi, or even the EpiUL112 regarding low end (although its a great sounding cab also).

Yes, both Epi's have more low end than the HT112. They are a good bit larger boxes. I'd say that the lows are "nicely balanced", "controlled" and "focused" on the HT112 and EX112, whereas at least on the T-112, it's like "holy handgrenades, Batman, that's a gob of low end!!!" :D

The HT112 carries this balance, control, and focus through the mids, where the Epi sounds, to my ears, to be a tad scooped (less so with the UL-112, though it also has slightly less lows than the T-112). Both are great cabs, just different. They do sound great together, though! :bassist::bassist::bassist:

+1 I was responding to the original thread question.... a 112 with the most bottom to replace a 115 below a 210.... for that... it's the EpiT-112 all the way IMO:bassist:

I totally forgot about the EA Wizzy cab. It's in the under $500 price range. It won't get the crisp high end extension as a cab with a tweeter, but it has a nice warm tone without much harshness. It's the most traditional sounding EA cab. Plus, it's VERY light.

If you guys are gonna go into another price bracket, then the UL112 is a great cab for low end extension. The Berg HT112 is a nice punchy 12, and has great low-end extension. CXL112 is a great cab with nice range, and smooth tweeter. All these cabs seem to have a little more clarity than the $500 and under cabs mentioned. As far as low end booty, the GS112 does as well as any of them. As far as weight, it's hard to top what the UL112 does when you consider their weight. I'm real curious now about the new Schroeder Mini 12. It's definitely on my "gotta check out" list.

If the sky's the limit, 2 of my favorite 12s are the Accugroove Tri112L and of course the Bergantino IP112.

An off the wall suggestion - Acme Low-B2.

Yes, I know it's a 2x10". But it's closer in size to most 1x12"s than 2x10"s, has a fatter deeper sound than any 10" speaker has a right to be, and is closer in price to a decent 1x12" than the boutique 2x10" price it should cost.

Alex

+1

about the same weight as many "non" neo, under $500 cabs, and yet pumps out some gorgeously fat low end.

but if we're talking strictly 12" loaded cabs, and money's no object, the accugroove is very hard to resist.

Yeah, it's hard not to bring both of mine when I know only one will do!!

But get this, I'm thinking a pair of UL112's with a UL110 stacked on top (total Ohm load should be about 2.5 or so- my amp can do 2 Ohm so this isn't an issue for me)
For "big" gigs. :D

We hooked up a pair of T-112's and a pair of T-110's all to my Acoustic Image at Tom Bowlus's place. Oh My God!!!!!

Anyway, my vote is for the Epifani 12's, neo or non.
Still want to side by side a UL112 and a T-112 (or NYC112-what ever they are called these days!)

I've run two T-112's and a T-110UL several times, and it makes a killer rig. Of course, adding that second T-110UL just rounds it out to a nice, even 2 ohm load. :D
