Single-Coil P Bass with Slim Neck

The Bruce Thomas Signature Profile bass is 1.62 @ the nut and I haven't put mine down since I got it. And I've never been a fan of P-Basses.

I'd love to add a single-coil P Bass to my collection in the future, but I just don't love wide, chunky necks. I could do a Warmoth build or a neck swap, but I'm curious if there are any SCPBs out there with slimmer necks, and ideally 1.5" or 1.625" widths. Any suggestions?

I have a Jazz with a Warmoth neck. Slim (side-to-side) but I ended up taking a spoke shave to it in quite a significant way as it was chunky.

Check the Mike Dirnt necks out. There is at least one thinner modern neck with the Tele shaped head. I recall seeing these a few years ago when I built a parts bass. I went with the 1.75" tall narrow fret one though.

That might well be one with the same neck as on the Squier Telebass I had. If so, very nice.

I just bought a PV fury from the 90s
PB style with a very thin neck similar to a jazz bass
I also have a jazz bass are very similar
Only spent a couple hundred bucks and it’s a great sounding PBass
I feel your pain I’m the same way I don’t like a PBass neck but I sure do like the sound

I just recall seeing a tele style neck that was a 1.5" and medium jumbo frets. I could have sworn it was a MIM Fender of some variant.

Lakland will make a 44-51 with your choice of nut width. 1.5” 1.6” or 1.75”.

If you build your own (which I highly recommend), I suggest the Lindy Fralin single coil.

Have you tried a Peavey Patriot ?

Despite the pointy horns and 21 frets it's still a P-bass. Couple of things best mentioned. There were 2 variants. 1 has a wide nut, the other a slimmer jazz nut. The ceramic single coil (Super Ferrite) has a higher output than alnico found in most Fenders.
