IIRC correctly when talking to the guys at the whisky exchange, (i can't remember the numbers exactly), but on the general scale which is used to measure peat in the whisky, Laphroid was (for example 5), Talisker was 8, Caol Ila's normal stuff was about 30-50, but they made a barrell which was around 500 or so on the scale to see what it was like. You could purchase bottles of it, but apparently it was a bit over the top.
Interesting. I enjoy all my Islay malts regardless of the numbers. Actually I find the Caol Ila smoother than The Frog and the Talisker. But like high end gear they're all good, just different.
