Apologies i just assumed everyone new pressie was short for present. It came in a box of 3 miniatures all Talisker. The Skye was the last of them. For some strange reason my relatives seem to think i'm a Talisker drinker. LOL
My fav is Isle of Jura 16yr old called Duirachs Own. They only make in small batches but if you get a chance to try it you wont be disappointed. Its quite a smooth whisky.

Oh of course! Thank you!

I am still enjoying using "rellie" to describe my relatives. That one I picked up on from an elevator ride with some Aussies a few years back.

(We Americans have a sheltered existince!)

Who do you think has the most and best expressions? I think it is either you Scots or the Welsh. The Welsh have such a head start with their language.


OK, back on topic. Recently I enjoyed trying Gelndronach 12. Complex and flavorful.

Oh, and the comment by our good friend Gaolee about all the lovely "group photo" by Thunderitter of Scotch that was in boxes: I find that not only do I like having the boxes "on" because of all the info and cool print work, but they also make stacking bottles much easier. Putting another bottle (or boxed bottle) on top of a boxed whisky is so much more stable. I am lucky enough to have more bottles than space so the boxes really help.

I have 3 cats so stacking isn't an option for me. They would attempt to climb on them.:laugh:
I've no idea where i got the slang "pressie" from. May well be from friends in US or Canada over the years but not sure.
Dont think i know any Welsh expressions to be honest and i worked with a few Welsh guys over the years.
I'll go with Scots expressions but i'm biased :hyper:

I'm not a fan of Laphroig either as you say to peaty for me but it is very popular.
Bought a nice Tobermory 12yr old while i was in Tomintoul whisky shop. Also had a sip of Carn Mor 2008 Virgin Barrel from Tobermory distillery that was very nice too.
My all time fav tipple was Isle of Jura Duirach's Own but they've stopped making it and the 2 mentioned above were the nearest tasting ones recommended by shop staff.
