Single Malt Scotch!

Maybe there's a bottle of 15 in the near future for me.
Well the future is here since I found a decent price on the Glenfiddich 15 and it's sitting in the car now.

Last night I also got to try the Glenfiddich 18 and can't wait to try the 15 tonight.

The 15 yo has a different process, really fruity!
I'm really hoping that it gives me a little of what I like so much in the Special Old Reserve, but I'll know in a couple hours.

Personally I find the 15 to be even nicer than the 18, especially when the price is factored in. The 15 is relatively inexpensive and quite pleasant.

Keep us updated!

I really enjoyed the 18 last night, but as usual, liked the nosing part of it better than the flavour and as someone who generally has a preference in the 10 year range, hope that my experience is the same as yours.

It's really a win-win scenario when we're lucky enough to actually prefer a less expensive bottling. With tax I was able to get out the door for $55, which is about the best price I've been able to find since I stared searching for it.

Sounds like a good price! Especially considering you're in Japan (I assume everything is more expensive in Japan). It sells for about 60-ish$ here.

There generally isn't toooo much of a price difference between the 12, 15 and 18 over here.

I personally prefer the 15, it's a bit different. The 18 is nice, very chocolatey, but more conventional in flavour than the 15.

Either way, both are enjoyable tipples, certainly worth spending a bit more to get in place of the 12, IMO of course.

I just checked and here the price are as follows:

12-45$, 15-65$, 18-88.5$

But government administrated liquor stores can be funny sometimes.

I'm in Alaska and the price is normally $65 here too.

I'm hoping that the 15 proves to be the best one for me too, but I'll never buy a bottle of 12 again. One time was enough to learn that lesson.

That is quite a difference!

Had a look at a supermarket website for 70cl bottles:

12 yo - £32
14 yo - £35
15 yo - £37
15 yo (distillers ed) - £46

They don't list the 18 yo, but other places are listing it between £42 and £45.

Our government is trying to play with prices even more, they (Scottish government, not UK government) want to start minimum pricing, won't have an impact on pricier malts but could have an impact on the ones I generally afford :(

It's very fruity (lots of pear) with a fair spice punch. Maybe not one to drink all night, as it's a bit sweeter, but very nice :)

I've never even seen the 14yo, how is it ?

Hey, it's not a scotch, but seeing you're in Canada just reminded me, the Crown Cask No. 16, while a bit spendy, is pretty nice and only available on your side of the border, not to mention out of production.

I'll keep an eye open, if I spot it in a pub sometime I'll have a go at it. I'm in the process of saving money right now so buying bottles is kind of out of the question. :(
