Single Malt Scotch!

Turned a self-professed non-Islay fan into a convert with Ardbeg's Corryvreckan and his friend into an Ardbeg 10 fan, who asked as he walked out the door if he was going to have any trouble finding it in town.

Yamazaki 12 and Ardbeg 10 have really been my favorites lately, and probably for some time to come.

Pedantic Sunday am Post:

It's 'whiskey' if your talking Bourbon. The Irish use 'whiskey' too. 'Whisky' comes from Scotland and in America it gets called Scotch. Please note someone or something from Scotland is Scottish!

Japan also markets 'whisky', and while I used to knock the stuff as a lesser quality copy, you can't say that any more. The last 10-15 years has seen a marked change in quality IMHO. A couple of my favorites whiskies, Auchentoshan, a Lowland from the West of Glasgow and Bowmore from the South West of Islay are actually owned by the Japanese giant Suntory.

Had a little on the tour bus while heading through Glasgow and Stirling the other day.

When you import a bottle of whisky into the U.S. it doesn't turn into whiskey. If it did, there'd be no point in importing it.
I think somethings gone over your head, as there's been no suggestion by myself or anyone else that importing changes anything.

Read the labels and you'll see what the makers call it. Dead horse issue, go back to talking about the drink. :D

Nothing went over my head.

You said they had a massive "whiskey" collection.

We were concerned with their "whisky" collection.

You said it's "whiskey" in this country. No, it's not. In this country, we make whiskey, and over there they make whisky. They are not different spellings, they are different products.

You now say it's whatever the makers call it.

Congratulations, now you've got it right. :D

Nice pics. It's been ages since I last went to Scotland. Literally hours ago. :D

Unfortunately no free samples from the whisky company I was working with. But all the meeting rooms in the Glasgow Hilton are named after malts. Either by chance or by attentive hotel staff we did end up in a room named after one of the company's own malts.

Shame I had no room in my bag or I'd have gone shopping in the airport.
