I hadn't noticed, they've always been great build quality at the price point, but then, there have been a few QC issues; I would not be at all surprised if they're practicing "continual process improvement" on the line and getting better...

I don't think many folks outside of Andertons and Thommann and that fellow in this forum in Indonesia put their hands on a large enough volume of units to have an opinion back by a large enough sample size to give much credibility to on this. Someone who has 2 - 5 units (really the top end of how many one person might own) just hasn't had enough experience with them over time to have a definitive answer here.

Nah, just saying if you buy another, you should sell me one on the cheap. ;) Kind of like how I had to set a limit on my wife, each time she brought home some stupid beverage cup from a movie theater, state fair, Target, or whatever, she had to throw one out.

So I'm going to suggest you get... uhhhh... a lefthanded fretless 5 string M7, and sell me a sunburst alder 5 string P7 for, let's say, $300 + S/H, and throw in a nice set of flatwounds on it and a fresh pair of 9 volts for me? :D

I posted this a few weeks ago and I'm amazed that only 2 or 3 people made reference to and liked the mod I had done to the bridge on the Sire V7.
I was just wondering, was I the only one in the world lol who had problems with the bridge !

I have the V7 5-string, and have not had to mess with the bridge.
BUT it is not my #1 bass (Dingwall ABZ-5), and I have only changed the strings once since I've had it. (needs it now)
the set up out of the box was good enough that i didn't think it was necessary to adjust anything. when I changed strings, I used the same gauge and still didn't have to adjust bridge.

If I do have to replace the bridge, it's good to know other bridges will work.

I replaced my V3 5-string bridge with the Hipshot.... It worked out good though I did drill 4 new holes. I removed it more because I really like Hipshot (on my 5 and 6 strings) and Babicz bridges (on all my 4 strings) which have good increased mass and mean no bending over time and great sustain. Got this on January 23rd of this year. Drooled over this thread for the few weeks it took to get here. (literally didn't think to make an account until now lol.) Had it for almost a year now and it's still as great as it's always been. Just recently put the cover over the neck pickup, I like the cover more than I thought I would. Strung with tapewounds for anyone wondering.

Sometimes I wish I had went with that white finish. Looks so good.

I own a V7 and I just recently purchased a M3 5 string. Both are really good basses and after a set up and fret level - GREAT basses. My question is one I have not been able to find out for sure yet. The Sire website M3 ad says the bridge and saddles are steel (a good thing versus zinc or pot metal). I rechecked the Sire V7 ad and it just says it is high mass. I'm almost sure the plate is steel, but am not sure WHAT the saddles are made of. Does anyone KNOW for sure? By the looks I'm thinking zinc, but would like to KNOW.

Correct me if I'm wrong but looks like the vintage might have a slightly different bridge.
