A question for you with a v7 - do you find the stacked knobs move together when you move either control? I.e. tone ring moves when you adjust volume?

Mine does and it's very annoying. I think it will need a new preamp

That's a pretty common problem when the knobs are new, no new preamp needed. Try to pull up in the top knob (volume or mid boost/cut). You don't need to pull hard, just enough to make a fracton of a millimeter space between the two knobs.
You might need to do that a few times.

Mine stopped doing it after a while, it just needed a bit of use and wear to work smoothly.

You can try lowering the bottom knob, that helped mine, but in the end I changed the knobs.
A dodgy thing to do I may add, loads of guys on here damaged the pot trying to take them off (the knobs that is) lol lol

I've tried taking the knobs off altogether and there is still Excessive friction between the outer tone ring and shaft of the pot. It is straight and works fine - there seems to be a more friction than I'd expect.

Now, this looks very suspicious...

"Musicstorelive" has put the Sherwood green V7 up for sale, using the exact same pictures as Pitbull Audio (the photos kind of look like they've been taken on the floor of someones living room).

But even more suspicious (and/or interesting) is that while the pictures clearly shows a V7 swamp ash-model, Musicstore seems to think it's a V7 Vintage swamp ash. All the details mentioned points to the Vintage-model, including the gloss neck with the small radius fretboard, black binding and block inlays, black pickguard, Vintage-J pickups and Vintage-S bridge... that's definetely not the bass showed on the photos.

Now the big question is: does the price listed at $769 has anything to do with reality, and if so, will that be the price of a V7 or a V7 Vintage in new colours?
It's worth to note that $769 is exactly the current price of a V7 Vintage including a gig bag.

I'm confused and suspicious as well on these...
1. - The Capri Orange V7 clearly has 70's pickup spacing which is V7 Vintage only BUT, it has an ebony fretboard?
2. - The Sherwood Green V7 is listed as a V7 Vintage but it clearly has normal (closer together) 60's pickup spacing.
3. - Wouldn't/shouldn't Sire announce the new colors before even shipping these to ANY dealer?

I don't suspect these are fake or even refinished in any way but it is very confusing on how/why only these dealers are selling new V7 color option basses (and yes of the same pictures) not even officially released to the public yet. ??? (p.s. - now there is a metallic blue listed on pitbullaudio as well)

Sire should have been making that blue one years ago. A P7 of that color would look fantastic. Just like the Lake Placid Fenders and Squiers. Except for painted headstock.

It was the same with the v3/m2 about a year ago. Thomann listed the new models way before Sire officially introduced them. Maybe Pitbull are trying to get a head of the curve with pre-orders.

I hope Thomann lists them quickly in this case then: there's a couple of other items I want to buy from them and I could save $$ by bundling shipping....

Sire definitely has a history of giving the details to vendors before listing them on their site. It's mildly annoying because it means that we are waiting to see what *else* will be coming out. So, for example, I was considering an M2, but now I have that on hold waiting to see if there's a color I would prefer that's about to come out.

Just got my P7-5 2nd Gen. a few Days ago. Not very often i got a Bass that was setup that perfectly right out of the Box. Really.. not jokin'. I changed absolutely nothing and leave the Bass in exactly that Setup. Beside of that, i love the rounded Fretboard Edges with the new Neck Profile... super playable. I've got a V7 and a M7 before, so i could not really compare the Pickups, which are the "new ones" on Gen.2 but Man, that Thing sounds Killer. Strings are even loud and the Low B is very powerfull and clear. Active as well as passive. That Preamp is mighty. Love it. Neck has an Ebony Fretboard now and the OPM has two Carbon Fiber Reinforcements. Bone Nut as before, but can it be, that the Tuners have improved too? These run very "creamy" and have no Play. I've read, that especially the Tuners often were told on the Downside.

It's my first PJ Bass ever. Allways went with JJ, JM, MM....maybe i fell in Love with that "PJ Thing"

Something is very off with the yellow one. It also has the highmass bridge from the V7, not the vintage bridge.

I wonder if the basses in those pictures are just some kind of prototypes or templates that Sire has used to test the new colours?

Bone Nut as before, but can it be, that the Tuners have improved too? These run very "creamy" and have no Play. I've read, that especially the Tuners often were told on the Downside.

According to Sire they have improved quality of the tuners om the 2. Gen.

I still haven't had any problems with any of the five 1st gen Sires I have, but glad to see Sire is responding to customer input and upgrading.

You have to leave some space between top and bottom knobs. Unscrew the bottom knob and lower it a tiny bit closer to the body, then tighten again. There is more moving space underneath the bottom knob than the top knob going upwards. Besides top knob will eventually always settle down with touch pressure. Try not to lose the indicator position. I did that after turning all knobs all the way towards one end and noting the position by other knobs.

I was trying to do this today, but I can't see anything inside the whole of the lower knob. Is this for a screwdriver or Allen key?

A very small hex wrench fits in the hole of the lower/outer knob. I was able to use a plastic automotive panel tool to gently pry the knob off.

Thank you, I'll try tomorrow.

I've done it. And have some advices for those who have the same problem.
Even getting the lower knob as low as possible, the upper knob was still touching it and grabbing it so turning one of them would turn the other one too.
So inside the upper knob whole, I put a very small piece of cork, like a little ball, so the upper knob don't get down enough to touch the lower one, et voilà...
Problem solved.
Anyway I want to point out that single knobs on my M7 cannot be pushed down to the end because their base I too small and they scrub on the bolt, so they have to be upper than the whole allows.
At the end I will probably change all the knobs, but meanwhile it works.
