For anyone looking to change knobs to chrome I have a set in the classifieds for pretty cheap . I had them on my V3 5 string but ended up liking the look of the plastic better . They fit perfectly .

It wouldn't be the first time that a new model appeared in Europe first, not sure how well they coordinate across the different "arms" of their distribution channels. I'd be surprised if these didn't show up on Sire USA in a few days.

It seems like they aim for the Fender Player market with the V5 and U5.
Sire even claim that the V5s are going to be light weight.

New M5 is also interesting. Looks from the pic like it has the three toggle switches like the M7, and also the blue version doesn't have a maple fretboard. $600 for a four-string and $700 for a five-string.

I wish they would have a P7 5 with the roasted neck. The P10 looks great, but I like the traditional P body. I have a V10 but like the tone of my P7 more

String Review: I am diggin' flatwounds at the moment and decided to string up my V7-5 swamp ash 2nd gen with EB Cobalt flats. I could tell from the the first notes I played these were perfect for a jazz bass. Combine a tighter fundamental with some clank and rasp and there you have it. These are really cool strings! They sound pretty close to roundwounds without the string noise and best of all, they don't have the same tension as Chromes have, so it is a little more comfortable on the G and D strings. Oh, and the B string has enough tension to be very clear and full.

Cobalt flats great. I put a light gauge set on my SBMM stingray and love them.
