I decided for S&Giggles to lower the action on my V7 post-setup. I now have it very, very low, with no discernible fret buzz. First bass I ever played that practically plays itself. I am very pleased with my V7. I was jamming along with some old tracks in Logic this afternoon for about 2 hours. Truly, a lovely instrument, and fun to play (even for a guitarist, lol).

I found I had to lower the saddles quite a bit when I put on larger strings, they're riding "higher in the saddle" notches than they should - I really should do a bit of filing on both the bridge saddles and the nut, but I can get the action low enough just with a couple of turns on each bridge saddle screw.

My music room is currently under construction so for the most part I've only been playing with headphones but dragged out the old polytone for a bit.

I just fell into a really good deal for another bass and I could be persuaded to sell this one. It is signed and I did crack the tab on the battery cover (glued it back together).

Love the idea of changing the knobs, might give that a go soon. I think the chrome ones make the bass look like it has a J Retro in it.

Can i ask about the gig bags. I don't hear much about them but on the website they look quite nice.
I can get hold of one but not sure if the shipping cost is going to be worth it over buying more locally. I mainly want it as it completes the bass, but its not going to be cheap getting it so I'd like to hear about experiences with it etc.

I'll try and get some pictures up tomorrow for you if someone doesn't beat me to it. It's very well padded and thought-out imo although to be fair the only thing I have to compare it to is a garbage $30 Fender bag. There's a removable padded neck brace inside and additional removable padding down at the body edge location (maybe removable to allow more space if needed?). Adjustable shoulder straps with light padding and mesh, and a hand strap if you want to carry it like luggage. Zippers are solid and there's a couple good pockets on the outside and a keyring. I'm a noob but I'm impressed with it.

Edit: There's also a rubber footing at the base to keep it from slipping if you have the bass placed standing up (like if you had the bag leaning upright against something). I do wish they didn't plaster the name of the bass on the outside of the bag though; even though it's a 'cheap' bass I still don't like advertising to potential thieves.

Yeah, wouldn't it be nice to go for the "this gig bag contains a beat up used piece of junk nobody wants" vibe - then again, someone might mistake it for vintage!

Just got notice that the bass has departed Miami for Orlando. I should have a new bass here tomorrow!

While I'll be using the Geddy for the gig, I'll be brushing up on a band's songlist tomorrow, and will just do it on the V7 when it gets here.

It sounds like it's very similar to the Thomanns bag I have, and the Rockbag I sent back as that was too heavy (although very well padded).

I normally just just a very thin Levis bag, as I prefer the way it sits low, ive tried others but really don't get on with them. It would be nice to have a matching bag although ill probably still use my normal bag most of the time.

It's nice that they include (in the USA) such a nice bag, I supose they aren't any different to others that put logos on thier OEM bags, but I agree with you, keep it understated.

The bag looks a lot better than i thought it would be. Definitely up there with mid range bags ive been looking at over here in the Uk.

Think i might get one, even if its just to store the bass in.

I've had a couple weeks of good bass time on my Sire and I'm really very happy I took a chance on it. I don't know why but something about it makes it very fun to play.

Still loving every moment with the bass, the action impresses me everytime i play on it.
My basses are the first thing i see when i get at the attic, and cant resist to just pick the SIRE up and play on it, eventhough i sometimes dont have the time for it

Normally, I only pick up a bass when I need to lay down a bass track whilst recording. My V7 is the first bass that I play just for fun, and have probably played bass more over the last few weeks than I have in years. I am truly pleased with mine. I am thinking of putting flatwounds on it, though I have zero experience with them. I was recently watching some vids on Youtube of someone playing a Ricky over Beatles songs, and it seems pretty obvious to me that they aren't roundwounds.
