Yeah, resistors and capacitors work opposite in parallel - with resistors, adding another in parallel decreases resistance, but with capacitors in parallel, adding another increases capacitance. Funny how that works, but kinda makes sense if you think about it.

And putting Capacitors in series decreases capacitance. i.e. 22nf in series with 22nf = 11nf (I know you know this but putting this for others who do not). Don't know why but putting them in parallel seems to sound good to me while in series no so much. Maybe all in my head.

Schaller has made a large change to their strap locks.
A. The button and Screw are one unit now that use the hex key that is supplied to screw it in place.
B. The locking nut is now a thicker round nut that is easy to grip with your fingers and has a locking set screw to help keep it in place. Much nicer. The screw seems to be of larger diameter and holds nicely. There are some for $29

Gotoh Res-O-Lite GB528

LowEndLobster turned me on to this upgrade.

I put a set of GB528's on my new P7. Put strap on and NO Neck Dive at all, not completely horizontal nor my preferred 30 degree upward tilt of the neck (due to short arms and small hands). They are great tuners. I did have to adjust tension on the D tuners but that was no big deal. They are smooth operating 26:1 ratio. It dropped overall weight of my P7 by 4 oz. from 9lb 6oz to 9lb 2oz.

That's great. I'm happy with the Grovers, and to anyone curious enough to look, they look like the originals since the old, patched screw holes not being used are all covered by the Grover's plates. But I must admit, those Gotohs sound like they're something special.

I played the Squier a little while yesterday and didn't notice any neck dive. However, the strap I used I pulled out of the Jack Casady's case, and it has a more coarse back that helps prevent neck dive, too.

We have a Marcus Miller at work, that's missing the last 'r' on the headstock, it was never there to begin with. Are there many "Marcus Mille" basses out there?

Anyone favoring the maple neck over the rosewood or vise versa?

My Fender MIM neck went bad on my Dirnt model. Thinking of building another P but the P5 is cheaper than a build.

Any love for the P5 out there? Is the nut width close to 1 5/8? Website states 42mm, 1.65in, Fender is 1.625. Seems pretty close.

Fortunately full up and down compatible. No need to replace any existing pins or beltlocks.

I have both the roasted and the rosewood neck. Both are of very high quality, no difference there. It is really up to what you prefer. The roasted maple fretboard is lacquered, so it has a little more twang to it. The rosewood looks awesome and dark, and there is no competing bass which comes with such a beautiful rosewood fretboard until you hit like $1700 bucks.

The nut is 42mm, however, it feels a little more narrow than a regular 42mm nut because of the rolled edges. Nothing major, just an FYI.

As a personal opinion, if you`re going for the classic oldies style look and sound, the rosewood seems a better option. If you`re more towards the modern rock / punk aspect of a precision, the roasted maple could be best.

If you get back to me on Wednesday, I`ll have a player precision neck at home, and I can do some measuring, just let me know what you need.

The only spec difference is the fretboard as far as I`m aware. Both have roasted maple necks, but with different fretboards.
