Small cars bassist

I have a 2003 Mazda protege 5 hatchback. 810 fridge and whatever head go in there with ease, tip the fridge over the bumper, 1 man job.

One time I even took my drummer and his kit to a gig with everything above as well.

Hatchbacks rule.

Somehow I can fit my GK Neo 212 with head and bass onto my 2014 corvette, about a quarter inch to spare, no photo yet

Back 20 years ago I used to fit my Aguilar GS212 with my head and bass into my 2001 C5 Corvette. Wish I had a pic.

Old pic: Suzuki Swift/ Geo Metro. Live sound gig- 3 monitors, two subs, a bunch of mic stands, a Yamaha O1v96, a PC for remote control of same, two amp racks, mics and cables. Had to remove the passenger seat. I bought a van soon after.

I had a Honda Fit and it held quite a bit of gear. Kinda like a Tardis, bigger on the inside. But I test drove a WRX and that was much more fun to drive. Still fits my Subway 1x15 and 2x10 in the backseat with the bass and the rest in the trunk. Wish they still made the hatchback version of the WRX.

For many years I used a Mazda Miata MX-5, that is a small car but I could get a 210 and bass in the passenger seat, amp, pedal board, big bag of chords, mic and music stand in the trunk. Occasionally I would also pack a pair of 110 monitors but that was really over stuffed. I typically gig with just a 210 but its a Berg so its all I need without any FOH.

I still have the Miata but for gigs use my Honda Civic. Can get all my gear plus a pair of 112 PA speakers and have lots of room left.

My little rig & big rig fit perfectly in my A5 trunk. Fun to drive and up to 35mpg to boot.

I don't have a car, but I can carry my Fender Rumble 500 to the bus stop if need be. Usually someone in the band has a car at my age though.

In the 70’s, I had an AMC Gremlin. I could get my Fender P bass case, two EV TL806 cabs, two EV TL606 cabs, SVT head, Tapco mixer, power amp, mic stand, and cord box (empty beer case) and my clothes bag in it.

Crazy car.

I dig! For what it's worth, my kid (mid 20s) learned to drive a stick as a teenager. His current car (Camry) is an auto, but he's insisting on a manual for his next car...a hatchback for transporting HIS gear to gigs!

That's what I have now - 2022 Toyota Corolla Hatchback w/manual transmission - It's a fun car to drive and holds all my gear no problem

That will last forever. My partner has an '08 Corolla 5 spd. that she's had for nearly 15 years now. It still runs 100% perfect. And gets over 40 mpg on the highway

I saw a post from 2009 talking about fitting rigs into small cars and pictures being shared, and I am generally curious to see in 2025 if anyone has updates or new setups with their small cars.

I really love cars like the Honda Fit, Civics (Today though the sedan is pretty big) or boxy cars fitting bass rigs.
If you have a small rig or doom or a 8x10, I love to see your small car rig fitting setup.

Hell if you have a big truck that still be cool to see!
I love to see how you fit it and what car you own - currently I have a HR-V which isn't imo a small car, maybe for American roads. Though it is still consider a subcompact.

Great topic! I used to take 2 kids and a 3/4 upright bass to lessons every week in a Prius. My full size pickup truck couldn't accommodate that. The bass wasn't safe in the bed and it was certainly not going to work when it was raining or snowing.

I don't own this car or rig anymore, but an Ampeg 8x10 cabinet can fit in a Kia Soul no problem.......

A Kia Soul is the modern equivalent of the old bread truck of the 1970's.

SVT and 810 fit in a Nissan Versa. luckily I've only had to do this a couple of times.

It actually wasn't a bad car, it was a manual transmission as well, kinda fun to drive. I taught my son how to drive a manual transmission in that car.

Had one previously. Loved it.
Fit full pa, mains mixer, monitors, Subway 112/115/wd800 , 2 basses, stands,lights and passenger.

I fit an upright bass, amp, music stand, passenger, and his instrument (tenor sax) into a 2006 Scion XA.

When I drove a compact sedan, the upright rode in the front passenger seat. You load it in head-first through the rear driver's side seat. After a few times, it's easy.
