I see nothing wrong in trying to correct bad grammar/syntax, etc. What they didn't learn in school we can help them out with.

As long as it's done with good intentions it's ok, my opinion anyway. When I am wrong I just say " forgive me I went to a public school".
That sounds perfectly plausible.
Really. 
I think most people are truly trying being helpful, but given this is the internet and we are typing to one another sometimes the wrong intent may come across, unfortunately.
At times (most times) I may seem like a snob when I post to make a correction about something, but usually it is to dispell
misinformation; I do what I can to help prevent the spread of that kind of stuff when I come across it. 
I regularly drool over the Wyn website. My other favourite is Drake basses.

Back in the early 2000s Shawn was a manager at a local GC. I lived nearby and used to go in and plunk on basses there and talk music with him. He is a really nice guy and a really good player, and he makes some really nice basses. Each one is a one off work of art.
Brady Muckelroy is fantastic!! He is out of San Marcos,TX and his customer service and craftsmanship are top notch.
He is almost finished with a single-cut fretless buckeye burl 6'er for me. I visited his shop and liked it so much I ordered two more.

Another thumbs up for Drake Custom. Mine gets delivered in a few days. Chambered, 35" scale 4 string tuned BEAD. TV Jones blade pickups
Eric Hurley Guitars In Northern CA. Don't own one yet but I'd love to add one to the stable. Eric's a good guy. I've done a few casual gigs with him.

Not trying to start anything but i always found most custom bass makers make absolutely horrendous looking basses. There's a market for these shapes but i just don't get it (and then there's the wood grain thing which i also don't get the appeal of). For example i've pretty much liked none posted in this thread save for the Reverends.
I love my Skjold! I think she is a looker and more importantly she backs up those good looks with amazing tone and playability! I must confess I'm drawn to basses that aren't "cookie cutter" basses.
