Smashed up pick guard? Here's how I fixed mine!

New for 2013 Fender Introduces the "Roadkill" Line of Premium P-bases

Yes. THat is gorgeous.

However, it does need a crack in the pickguard near the controls/jack. Just doesn't look "right" without that touch.

Also, the chain and lock are too shiny and new - get some rust on those.

Jesus! Come on boys, appreciate a little creativity, will ya? This was a $0 repair- who cares what it looks like? It harder to break now! I guess I've only ever owned an instrument to play it, never to use as decorative fireplace piece.

Believe it or not, you can do a lot of harm to a bass and it'll still do just fine- it's really just a piece of wood with a couple magnets in it.

Here's some more battle scars to further incite your tempers:

Regarding "strap locks"- the ones you buy for $20 from a manufacturer tore out years ago. I've got huge (2-3 inch) bolts drilled into the body through huge washers wrapped in gobs of duct tape. It's worked great for me so far.

Banged up tuning pegs- still work just fine!

Crack the runs 1/3 down the neck.

While I totally applaud this because I understand why you did it and the abuse it takes, I would still suggest some tape of some sort on the edges of that metal. Cuts suck worse the next day, when the adrenaline of the performance wears off and you feel things again.

Just one question. What's with the hardshell case?

Well.......it's a hardshell plastic-like case that you store your bass in when you're not playing. You can probably pick one up for a few Jackson's.

now after seeing the pics of the full bass the duct tape makes sence... strap locks! Ever tried those grolsh beer washers? I have been using those for years playing in a high energy punk band and never had a failure. My basses are beat up but nothing like that...

I had already bolted my own "strap locks" in before I discovered those beer washers. I'd try them only if I got to drink the beer first!
