Smoking bans in US

I have no problem with GDD saying the same thing I did only prettier!!

But ugly doesn't make me less right. :)
Haha, well...I live in Chicago, one of those gosh-darn bastions of liberalism your ilk is always grousing about.;) And guess what? You can still smoke on your own property as well as the property of like-minded individuals (that'd be the folks who don't mind all their stuff smelling awful)--same with your car, and also out in the streets. People smoke 20 feet or so outside of my office building (and occasionally I have to ride with them in the elevator :vomit:).

And according to the CDC, about 18% of Americans still smoke--about 45 million people. That's some weird kind of abolition.

As for bars, despite the anecdotes and smoking bans, they are still seeing rising sales. That's pretty remarkable given the massive growth of in-home entertainment. Invalid Link Removed

Oh yeah. Don't eat sugar. It's poison. No bs.
If you're saying that sarcastically, I say seriously that I feel sorry for you. If not, I'm happy that some here get it.

I'm not telling anyone what to or not to do aside from open your mind, inform yourself, and.... Yeah. That's all :).

The majority of people in the U.S. are addicted to sugar, haven't a clue they are, and aren't going to do anything about it in this lifetime. Sadly again, there is a big price they'll pay for that.

Nope, not sarcastic. I slipped a sincere post in there, all sneaky like.

No smoking in any public-access commercial & government buildings, or any kind of public transportation including taxis. No smoking within 10-20 feet of building entrances. No smoking in the state parks & campgrounds except inside a private vehicle.

I'm no fan of the nanny state but it wouldn't bother me at all if Eugene would ban smoking entirely so I can sit outside my favorite watering hole on a warm sunny day and enjoy a PBR without being surrounded by smokers and secondhand smoke. BTW these people will sit outside in very cold wet weather under an iffy awning to enjoy their smokes.

It's inconceivable to me how anyone under the age of about 30 has chosen to smoke.

Where I am at you can smoke outside but can't stand in front of stores or in establishments. The number of smokers have dropped a lot I switched from smoking to vaping. That's getting cracked down really fast too vaping inside is usually frowned upon. I know other states are even more hardcore and won't let you smoke outside in public. The price of smokes is what made me stop, costs way to much to kill myself.

This is one of the things I love about the U.S. We can do some things right. Millions of lives have been saved because of our intolerance to the stupidity behind smoking cigarettes.

We need to start having a similar attitude towards sugar. Thankfully that's pretty much right around the corner.

Saw an article recently stating that in parts of Africa where sugar is scarce, tooth decay is virtually non-existent.

Sugar is as narcotics to kids. Most of us did anything to get it.

There is as much sugar in a carls jr value burger as in half a can of coke. Vile how much is hidden everywhere in processed food.

What about people who eat a lot of red meat? What about people who don't exercise enough?

Smoking is different because it bothers people. I have no problem with it being banned in bars or outside of buildings. But if I want sugar and beef and bacon and I wanna gain weight till my feet fall off from diabetes right before my heart gives out and I drop dead, it's my choice.

The problem is it's getting pushed on people in deceptive ways. People crave sugar because they're addicted to it. They're addicted to it because it's added to 90% of the food Americans eat. The politics behind all that are really depressing, and something I can't get into typing this out on my cell while at work. And I'm supposed to at least look like I'm really doing something :).

Being fat and/or loosing your feet to diabetes wouldn't be as much your fault as you might believe. We're all swimming upstream in a powerful river when it comes to nutrition and health.
