So, Ariel Castro is dead...

I see a LOT of presumptuous posts that these girls, & their families have somehow been short changed by his dying.

Of course none of us could possibly know what they're thinking right now w/o actually hearing it from them directly, we can attempt to pretend to be in their shoes.

However, when I do this I'm not left feeling shortchanged at all, but rather a little relieved.
I can't imagine these people thought for a minute this guy deserved to spend his days out, in protective custody, in a protected housing unit where the odds of him ever being harmed was highly unlikely. Possible, but not likely.

The guy would have been very protected, treated very humanly, and given plenty of time to read, write, and still live a better life than they themselves were afforded.
He'd certainly have eaten well, and slept well, and would have had the luxury of developing pen pals, relationships, and even a wife if he so decided in time.

If I had the option of my victimizer living a life in prison, or dying instantly, I'd choose death, and feel every bit of good about it.

They no longer have to wonder of he is suffering, or thriving in there. They no longer have to fear that he'd be released through some glitch in the system, or loophole.
No fear of a prison break.
Nothing.
He's gone for good, what could possibly give a victim more unchangeable peace than the ultimate eradication of concern?

I can see valid points in this. The guy certainly would have been treated far better than his victims ever were. I'd still like it better if he was killed rather than commiting suicide though, just so it didn't happen on his terms. Take the control away from him.

I love it how everyone complains about "wasting tax dollars" well, did you know, the Tomahawk cruise missiles we are about to start lobbing at Syria are $1M/each? The money we saved on paying for life in prison for Ariel Castro will give us about one missile. Suddenly, it doesn't look like too much of a savings anymore does it?

We should strap his worthless body to one of them.

Huh? How does this have anything to do with the OP and the subject at hand?? :hmm:
