So, Ariel Castro is dead...

I find it extremely hard to believe that he'd be sodomized In prison. At the very least it'd NEVER be a normal occurrence.

Unfortunately even the worst of the worst are highly protected in prison, often sent to protective facilities, and isolated for the most part.
A high profile guy like him, he'd likely be locked away 22-23 hours a day, with an hour or two of recreation time ALONE.
This guy would have had relatively peaceful days for the rest of his filthy life.
Seriously, his death seems like a better deal all around for the rest of society.
It's very unlikely he'd have been exposed to anything horrible in prison.

Those darn liberals, and their need to be loving and sweet to society's worst regardless of their behavior towards others.
Had conservatives had their way over these kind of issues, Castro woulda been tossed in general population, and left to fend for himself.

It worked pretty good for Dahmer......

Crazy Charlie on the other hand..... He may be 5'3" but I doubt he gets sodomized regularly. Crazy girlfriends are scary enough.........

Actually it didn't. Dahmer was released perfectly fine in isolation, it wasn't until after the first year when he was released into a 600+ inmate prison population and 'only then' beaten to death.

Castro was a pedophile, and guilty of child related crimes, it's unlikely he'd have EVER seen general population.
But maybe who knows, I'd imagine someone purposely decided to move Dahmer, and I guess the same could easily have happened to Castro.

My sentiments exactly

Y'all a buncha' sick ****s.

Nothing that could be done to him would ever fix the real problem; what happened to the women. Wishing all these horrors upon him does nothing for anyone, you are disgusting me. What he did was absolutely terrible, no need to bring ourselves down towards him.

Tangent warning: heard that one country song today that came out post-9/11, lyrics are something like "Yeehaw, we gonn' make sum 'splosions on y'alls!" This gets to the real problem culturally; a reactive and punitive attitude responding from anger. Didn't we all learn to let our anger settle before making decisions? But it is better to "get them back" (school shootings?) and show them.

Never mind, just drop some bombs.

Though prisons do make an effort to protect high-profile and vulnerable inmates, no prison can guarantee an inmate's security indefinitely. That's a lot of time, energy and manpower, and not as high on the agenda as you might think. It's just a matter of time before the vulnerable inmate crosses paths with the general inmate population that would be his ultimate undoing.

Before long, Castro would have surely been in the same position as his victims; alone and vulnerable.

And @ derhoggz: Sorry to say it, but the stark reality is, rule of law in a civilized society does involve negative consequences fitting to the offense. When people cross the line, we don't typically act in anger; we take the time to try them in a court of law, consider all the facts, take a deep breath, pass judgment, and sentence accordingly.

Castro received a punishment similar to his crime: Loss of freedom and control, and fear for his safety and well-being. It's a form of justice I certainly don't feel guilty about.

Or, in short: If you can't do the time, don't do the crime.

This begs the question, what are acceptable crimes among prisoners?

While I'm not sympathetic to child molesters, cannibals, and the other people who are frequently targeted in prison, I do find it incredibly ironic that convicts feel that they're in the position to be moral authorities in these matters.

I suppose there's an ethnography in there somewhere about "prison justice."

I certainly agree that in time Castro would have gotten his.

No doubt about it.
But my point was that he would NEVER have lived the tortuous life behind walls, being tormented, and sodomized that some are suggesting.
Do I think eventually someone would finally get to him? Sure....but each day before then would be a fairly peaceful day.

That's all my point was.

I won't try and rationalize my comments.
I'll be your sick ***k I guess!

Makes little difference to me at all, Castro was a sick bastard who deserves the worst punishments imaginable for his crimes.

Hell, I was being PG13 with the words I personally chose, as the reality behind what I think he deserves isn't even Internet appropriate.
Guess it's the parent of a daughter in me????
