So Burger King is racist now too?

I agree, it is a gem of humor and satire. Virtually every black person I know of can recount a conversation with Mom or Dad or both in which that person is told that the he or she cannot assume that he or she will be seen the same way when doing the same things that others do. That's just a fact.

Take color out of it. If a person sees a thin person eating a piece of chicken or some fries, they are just getting a snack. The same person seeing a fat person eat might very well make negative assumptions about the fat person being greedy.

The bottom line is that the folks at Madamenoire really aren't talking to you, and they aren't really talking to me either.

This.. let's consider the source and audience and try not to make something out of nothing..

PS.. I also love fried chicken but I'm a bit disappointed in Mary J. Blige that she would lend her name & likeness to any fastfood joint but that is more because I hate all fast food.. I'd much rather hear from Gladys Knight about her amazing Chicken & Waffle joint... Hopefully will get to Atlanta sometime..

I agree that it's not worth my time or your time or anyone's time, but they weren't exactly whispering this in someones ear either. Something published on the internet that is so ridiculous merits ridicule.

Also, you quoted me before my edit. I looked at it and thought it was a bit inflamatory, so I edited it. I'm trying to be the kinder, gentler Smokin' Toaster. Sorry about that.

I'm going to New Orleans on the 29th to catch Tab Benoit and Sonny Landreth at the Rock n' Bowl. I may have to go to Willie Mae's Scotch House for some fried chicken. It gets rave reviews. New Orleans is such a hard place to eat... too many choices, and they're [DEL]all [/DEL] mostly delicious.

I'll be sure to write Mary J. if I think she should sing about it. ;)
And madam nutcase.

Wait - how did you end up on a black women's blog?

I found the story on a cool website for white people first. Instead of quoting the cool white people website, I went to the source for the article in question.

As for your claim Mary is targeting black folks, come on now. I love me some Mary J. Blige too. Family Affair is on my regular rotation of MP3's while I'm working in the yard. :)

Come on now - you were looking for all the hot gossip on the streets. Don't deny it :D

And while I don't doubt there are white peepus who like Mary J Blige, it's still pretty obvious the demographic BK was targeting with their commercial.

As for Mary, you can have her btw. I hear enough of her with my wife having her whole catalog on rotation :D

I believe this is one of the rules of the Internet.

In my unsolicited opinion, I feel bad for MJB-if she wants to be goofy, fine by me. The commercial reinforced no stereotypes other than the fact that humans have a sense of humor, which I wish was a true stereotype for a larger population.
