Like any of you think you're too good to pass on a few hundred thousand or million to sing about chicken in a fast food commercial.....leave Mary alone.
If you paid me enough, I'd sing about hemorrhoids or toe jam.

Mike, no one is saying they are too good but seeing MaryJ choosing to associate with fast food will leave many people rather disappointed.. Fast food like BK and McDs have disastrous effects on our populace including but not limited to; obesity, diabetes, coronary artery disease, heart attack, stroke and cancer..
Not to mention this..
The way the article was presented is somewhat offensive, but it does bring up an interesting point. As a black female, that way that people perceive me is not the same as everyone else. People assume that I act a certain way, and I have had to deal with so many hurtful situations because of this. I'm an engineering student, and I have had students, professors, and working professionals alike tell me that I don't belong. In a perfect world, this wouldn't be the case. But to pretend that double-standards don't exist is simply being blissfully unaware of the struggles some women have to go through every day.
Regarding the fried chicken thing, it's a little silly, but I don't really care. I think fried chicken is gross anyway.
Of course, it's totally MaryJ's choice to live her life in pursuit of almighty dollar..
It's also totally my choice to lose respect for her based on that decision..

...and as a white male - the way that people perceive me is not the same as everyone else... and my friend from Sri Lanka? The way that people perceive him is not the same as everyone else... and my Native American Lesbian friend? The way that people perceive her is not the same as everyone else.
It's no surprise that noticeable physical difference engender different perceptions. What is surprising is that there are folks out there who think those unfounded perception don't happen to everyone.
