I must be extremely naive, but wheres the racism? I thought the commercial was really good. The blog on the other hand... a bit touchy/feely imo.

Ya know, I tried to boycott, but it didn't work. All this talk of Burger King got me all hot and bothered for a mushroom and swiss. So....yeah, that's where I spent my lunch. I don't make a very good black guy

I think McDonalds knows how to "work the crowd". And I'm pretty much using that term in the same sense as you'd use it as a musician. They look at the crowd, they look at their "songlist", and they play what works. 365black.com works. If you look at the last dozen or so McDonalds television commercials, count the number featuring black customers vs. the number featuring non-black customers. I don't think you'll find that it reflects the racial mix of the country. McDonalds is playing (in the negative sense) the African-American demographic, and the cash registers are ringing. And so are the heart monitors in the cardiac ward. I'm surprised that no one has stood up and said "wait a minute, you're basically spending millions to condition African-Americans to have deadly eating habits". But I'm guessing McDonalds contributes money to favored causes and puts up websites like 365black.com and that makes it all better.
As for Mary J, in my book she gets to do whatever the hell she wants. I do think it's interesting that the commercial is part of a campaign with other celebrities (Jay Leno etc) and that has kind of been lost but whatever.
But this link confused me.
What a bizarre article. The 8 things listed don't even make sense to me in most cases.
1. Sex on the first date.
Seems like a bit of a reach to say that men have a bigger problem with black women being easy than white women but then I've only got my own view of things.
2.Leaking sex tapes.
WTH? Seriously?
3. Speaking in baby voice.
Again, WTH? I hate it when any woman does that. And at BEST it's a way to appear dumber and less capable - why would a woman want that other than to appease an insecure man?
4. Getting a nose job.
Really, these are the 8 things that bother the writer? We're looking for equality in plastic surgery?
5. Walking around straight-faced.
Now this can be viewed as an issue. Similarly for black men, failing to smile or seem cordial can allow people to stereotype them as angry or aggressive. Definitely a negative stereotype.
6. Cackling loudly on the phone.
Again, annoying when ANY woman does it. Or any man for that matter. I don't want to hear anyone's phone call if I can help it, especially at high volume.
7. Wearing low-rise skinny jeans.
And fat women aren't as successful wearing halter tops. Though a trip to the California State Fair makes you realize that many of them don't know that. Everyone should wear clothes that fit their bodies. And of course, for some black women low-rise skinny jeans DO. Ironic that an article about stereotypes uses them so often.
8. Getting knocked up.
Again, WTH? Does the author want it to be more socially acceptable for black women to be pregnant out of wedlock? I can't deny that on average society will judge them more harshly than white women in the same circumstance, but shouldn't the goal be for all women to avoid unplanned and unwanted pregnancies?
I actually reread the article to see if it was meant to be humorous. If it was, the humor was so dry as to fly over my head. And if it wasn't, it's one of the oddest things I've read in a while.

! Well done, sir!As far of the article I'm much more offended but the lack of thought put into the music. In my book even the cheesiest of endeavors can be forgiven with music that I enjoy (e.g. Pokemon World). Until the last 5 seconds it sounded like everyone involved phoned it in. It's like no one was told they should even try to make something decent.
I'm no fan of Mary J. to begin with but I KNOW she can do something better than this and I know McD's could afford to pay her to do better that that awful commercial.
Oh, and the article is silly. I don't think I'd want to associate with folks who read the site regularly, based on that article anyway.

Now this, I find offensive. It's like "Look at all these stereotypes I found and collected onto a single webpage!" I'm not gonna go flip cars and set fires or anything but seriously, what the hell? Who said "Yea, this is a good idea."? They need to be out of a job right now.

I think by the time I was 12 I figured out BK and McDonalds heavily target the black demographic, pretty easy to see that.

I had Popeye's fried chicken this weekend with red beans and rice, biscuits and strawberry jam, washed washed it down with a sweet iced tea....delicious. The lady in those commericials is black so is Popeye's racist too?

I'm concerned for those who make their dining decision based on an idiot who intentionally stuffed himself with food just to sell a movie.
People with a modicum of self control and common sense can occasionally enjoy fast food without concern for their health.
I know.....it's a crazy concept in our "blame everybody buy myself for my actions" society.
While you're out make sure you don't forget to put that stray cat back in the ATM...
