...and there are certain negative assumptions that would be made about a white female that would not be applied to a black female, and there are certain negative assumptions that would be made about a male that would not be applied to a female, and...
It seems odd to point out something as obvious as "the sun rises" if your intent isn't to imply a difference in degree.

I would be much happier if people assumed I couldn't dance, as opposed to people assuming I'm a fried chicken-eating, angry black woman on welfare with 12 baby-daddies. The second assumption can make people question my ability to do my job. The second assumption has also led to me being falsely accused of stealing, multiple times. And what is usually said after I prove myself worthy? "Wow, you are a nice/smart person. Not like the rest of your people." I highly doubt that people assuming I can't dance would cause that kind of damage to my reputation.

Are you suggesting that all the negative assumptions made about one subset of humanity are equivalent to the negative assumptions made about some other subset? I think there are some pretty strong differences there, not to even mention that some subgroups have many more negative than positive assumptions attributed to them, and vice versa.
That's not an assumption. People can plainly see whether you have one or not.

I deal with people assuming I am part of some Aryan brotherhood or perhaps I am some dumb jock only good for lifting heavy things and physical labor. You wanna know how many times I get the "oh, you look different than I thought you would. You don't look like an IT guy. We thought you were here from maintenance"?

Well since you mentioned it...those Popeyes commercials are awkward, too.
Mind you, no one is saying "BK, McDonald's, or Popeyes is racist." But these commercials that attempt to pander to black sensibilities is embarrassing to my blackness
Maybe someone from Louisiana can chime in, but I was wondering if that lady even fit the "Louisianan" mold? I know a few (as in 2 or 3) people from Louisiana, and they don't talk like the lady in the commercial. She sounded more like my relatives from Alabama. I've been wondering about that...
I'm not crying about it. I'm simply stating my experiences. If it's not a big deal, why are you being rude about it? I know that negative assumptions can be made about other people. That was already said a few posts ago. It's possible make a point without being condescending, you know.

Where in the heck do you work?? Using the term "your people" would get you a swift ass kicking where I live.I've dated just as many if not more black women than white (last one for about 5yrs) and AFAIK none of them have ever been accused of having multiple kids, being on welfare or stealing. And they've been older (ex had me by 15yrs), so they're not lacking in life experience. The assertiveness and love for fried chicken I'll agree with, but who doesn't love fried chicken? And who doesn't love a woman that'll try to fist fight you if you get her angry enough? Okay, scratch that last one...
On an unrelated note, KFC has a 10 piece bucket for $11.00 deal going on this weekend. I'm not a big fan of their chicken, but that's a damn good deal...and their buscuits are cooked in 100% win. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly that stuff they call mac and cheese is, though.

FWIW, I think a female engineer of any color has a more difficult road to hoe than a man, because it's a traditionally male dominated field. Not defending it, just stating my observations from working for high tech firms as a marketing and sales professional for 26 years. My role in many cases ws translating engineering ideas to something mere mortals could understand. I've worked at different companies and probably a couple of hundred engineers and I can remember maybe one or two female engineers. Disclaimer - I'm not an engineer.
We've got special schools that black females must attend and we teach them to talk that way.
Seriously, it's a slippery slope to try to generalize about accents. I spend a lot of time in Louisiana, and I'm a lifelong resident of Alabama. I could bring six people into a room from Alabama or Louisiana and show you six totally different accents. I was raised in Mobile and attended Catholic schools with Irish nuns. I guarantee you I don't sound like someone from Selma or Dothan. Louisiana has even more variables that influence accent.
I like to guess where people are from based on their accent, and I get it right more often than not. The popeyes lady could be from any number of southeast states, but she definitely lacks a lot of the French-Cajun twang that you will often hear in Louisiana. There are some folks in Louisiana that have an accent that reminds me of a Brooklyn accent. That's kinda strange.
I'm a white cop. That automatically means I'm racist, corrupt, plant evidence, lie, cheat, steal, and generally commit criminal acts just to write a speeding ticket to some poor innocent.
you don't need to "concern" yourself but hey do whatever you like.. just remember the old adage "you are what you eat"...
