Double Bass So Gerold’s cooking up something new...

I´d not like to have aluminum under my sweaty fingers. As far as I know Gerold uses aluminum for some (all?) of his strings. What does he use for the windings? If the tempera come without it I might consider to try them once.

Hey guys, I have news for you. The good news is, I tried the Tempera Strings today and what I heard is absolutely killing me. I don't want to sound dramatic but I think this is the beginning of a new era. I am super excited.
WOW, they are... LOUD!! Hell yeah, the loudest strings I've ever heard. And I would say in a good way agressiv. Maybe a little less soft compared to what I experienced with Sonores Strings. The sound is fat, not sharp but extremely clear (never thought that works together) as they react to the tiniest change of the bow. And they are quick, so they should work perfectly for orchestra playing. And modulation... ppp to fff, its all there.
I actually have NOTHING to complain. Well, for Solo I still prefer my Sononores Set since they have a bit more overtones maybe. But a Solo version of Tempera planned so I will wait for that.

The bad news is: I couldn't buy them yet, I tried everthing. But the set I tried was a prototype, not for sale :(

I’m on the presale list, and I can’t WAIT to try these. Hopefully they will be released around the same time my Juzek is out of restoration.

Could you perhaps discuss the pizz tone?

I'll be interested in hearing more thoughts on the pizz tone of the first set of Tempera. I might wait until Genssler releases the hybrid set, but I do like the concept of Spiro like with a gut tone to it as I'm using Spiros as the moment!

that makes sense. As I’ve mentioned before, my experience with Gerrold is he tends to be a traditionalist when it comes to his concept of jazz sound. I’m looking forward to getting these!
