At the long run I would regards, what's "market" doing to prices... The numbers told by Jan-Ole reflect their idea, what Tempera Strings are worth.. and we'll see the reaction of the "market", when they are available in larger quantities... on the other hand I'm convinced, that Temperas never will be a "mass production" with really big number to be produced...

Double Bass So Gerold’s cooking up something new...

I think so too. The Temperas will be far away from mass production. As far as I understood the idea of Gerold and Jan-Ole its more about a high class product. I find the price pretty fair, considering the fact that you get double volume out of your instrument 
I just wonder wether the bass scene is ready for this, its pretty evident that mostly professionals and top players choose Gerolds products, some players cannot really handle them.
Does anyone own a set yet?! ... its been a while since I played them and I am not sure if they were updated again since then.

I have some news too. I received my set a few days ago!!!!
I'll start from the beginning:
First I wasnt so sure if I was totally satisfied, even more because I already played them this summer and was super excited back then. Maybe my instrument reacted a little shocked. Sound was nice but not much louder than the Pirastros and a little slow. Not what I remembered from what I tried it a few months ago. But after 30min I could already feel that something happens. Next morning I tried again and TADAAA! Beautiful! Really loud, clear and musical with this subtle touch of gut sound inside. After a few days now I can say that I am mayyybe even 100% satisfied, which is a very very rare thing to me
My impression is, the bass was a little overwhelmed because it didnt get the tension it was used to.
Maybe I should practise patience & start reading manuals
they write: "Bear in mind thta both new strings and the instrument itself need a few days to mature and acquire the desired sound."
Guys, i will keep you posted, have to go back to my bass now...

I’ll keep these on my radar. Just what I need, though - an expensive set of killer strings while I’m gigging less than I did when I was in high school - hahaha.

I think these are mostly designed for orchestral playing but can anyone who's already got a set comment on their pizz sound?

Just curious, they suggested leatherwood bespoke rosin, I passed on ordering it along with the strings. What are you using?
I received my set on monday after some problems with mail service and we ("my" luthier and me) put the strings on the bass yesterday... so these are first impressions... but on my instrument the pizz sound is really really great...very loud, equal and very assertive are these first impressions.. my bass sounds still dark and deep (how I like it), but a lot more open and clear.. and the strings are very, very fast...
the react and respond immediately... the whole instrument seems to be more responsive... playing arco it's fun to...the strings follow the bow as if they are "connected"... the sound is very open and clear and "complete"... as mathbassman reported before it takes a few hours to develop better and better, but we were deeply impressed from the start. I think, I have to learn to use less "pression" on the bow and to move "lighter" to avoid scratchy heights, but the strings might change in the next days according to Jan-Ole..

There's an environmentally conscious packaging with any plastic and a little manual with some notes and advices for string changing and adapting the bass -if necessary- (we changed the sound post a little bit). Yes we put the strings "upside down" to the tailpiece to get an flatter angle after checking out the "correct" way and it seems to work beautiful...

How do you perceive the tension on these? I may be in the market for some wrapped gut strings, curious how these might compare to competing strings like Oliv/Eudoxa from a feel standpoint, or even a steel string like Spiro Weich.
Jan-Ole told me about a tension of roundabout 23 kg each string. It's definitely less compared to Evah Pirazzi Weich with 28,5 to 26,4 kg or Perpetuals with 28,6 to 26,3 kg. The strings feel also more "flexible"...not only lower tension...
